Here we go again. The EU is gearing up to investigate Google, according to the BBC [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11876443], due to complaints of abuse of their dominant position; specifically, dropping competing services down on its rankings. Complainers include price comparison website Foundem and legal search engine ejustice.fr. Details up there in the link above.

So, discuss. Does Google deserve a bloody nose, or is Foundem complaining too much?

uh....is their any actual legal issue here? are people actually complaining that google isnt showing their ads in their UNPAID search results? i go right past those sponsored results, for the reason of being ads. advertisers yet again bitching about free will interfering with their business; google can show whatever they please. can these people really get away with complaining that google's algorithm doesnt favor their service? grow the hell up....

As a regular Facebook user, I often search for Facebook through Google. If you do a search like that and look at the Google news feed that always comes up on the first page, it's always really uncomplimentary stories about Facebook that get highlighted, presumably because Facebook and Google are competing companies so Google would rather feed you the bad press than the good. I'd believe the EU's claims personally, after all Google is the dominant search engine and we all know the quote about how "absolute power corrupts absolutely".

EU market policy is aimed at trying to make competition fair and equal, that's why the EU is investigating Google.
