NASCAR is the most worthless professional driving sport. Anything else, like F1, GT2, LMP1, rally, baja, etc. has drivers actually racing in vehicles built by manufacturers to push the limits of the technology and the regulations of the race. In F1 if it says Honda or Mercedes on the side of the car, then there is a Honda or Mercedes engine powering the damn thing. And all of these companies are in it to win prestige and push the boundaries of automotive technology. NASCAR is a bunch of identical cars with changeable exterior shells. Weather it's a Chevy, a Ford, a Dodge, or even a Toyota; it's the same car underneath. It revolves more around the drivers personalities then the race itself. In this way it's almost like 'professional' wrestling, in that it is essentially a type of soap opera for male rednecks. Absolutely worthless.
To quote the founder of Honda Motor Company, Soichiro Honda, "Racing improves the breed".
But NASCAR is not real racing, and so nothing is gained.
