This is a thread about the times your skills at avoiding death or injury came into play.

When was the last time that pure reaction time saved you from an unpleasant occurrence? It isn't quick thinking as it is something that happens too fast to comprehend.

For me I was driving down a dark highway last night when, with only 3 or so seconds to react, a Saint Bernard walked calmly into the right side of the right lane. I swerved and missed hitting the dog. I was genuinely freaked out but my reaction speed saved me.

Have you ever been in a similar situation? What was heading towards you and how did you manage to escape injury or worse?

I was playing Metroid Fusion one day, walking home from school.

I wasn't paying attention at the time but there seemed to be someone who was speeding down the road. My friend had saw the car and pulled me away. Telling me to, and I think he said, "wake the hell up."

:D

I was completely oblivious to what was going on around me.

All I remember was the guy in front of me slamming his breaks and me not having enough time to stop, then my memory is missing, then I was in another lane and the car behind me slamming into the car that was in front of me, and me driving off like it didn't happen.

Although I have a rather high reflex save, my fortitude save has allowed me to survive exploding appendix TWICE..... then again, I may have used my will save there.

Two guys were racing down the street (one in a pickup truck) and in the process of doing so, one rode up onto the sidewalk.

I felt the ground rumbling, took one large step to the left into the grass, and watched as the truck flew past me by about a few feet.

Was holding a knife and chopping vegetables, out of nowhere my left hand starts to twitch and I lose control for a second. The knife goes flying up after hitting the counter and is about to hit my throat, my right hand instinctively grabs... the blade. That was the first and last time I had ever cut myself with a knife, and it saved my life most likely. Now I wear some sort of guard around my neck when handling excessively sharp knives (just a thick cloth, stuff like that), and I also wear gloves on the hand that handles the blade.

Did I ever tell you I was struck by lightning seven times? Once when I was in the field, just tending to my cows...

Once when I was just sittin' in my truck just minding my own business...

Once when I was repairing a leak on the roof.

Once I was just crossing the road to get the mail.

Once, I was walking my dog down the road.

Blinded in one eye; can't hardly hear. I get twitches and shakes out of nowhere; always losing my line of thought. But you know what? God keeps reminding me I'm lucky to be alive.

...Storm's comin'.

No, I haven't really had a time where reaction time has saved my real-life ass. Plenty of times in video games, though.

But it's cool! My Persona's got Sukukaja!.. Oh god I really just said that. Someone please, hit me with something to wake me the fuck up. P4 has absorbed what little sanity I had left.
