EVE online? Homeworld?

So I recently picked up a demo of homeworld 2 (people suggested it over at the relic forum) and i have to say i loved it so so much, the design of the game is beautiful and it would be a crying shame if they where to not make a third

My question is, is EVE online in any way like it? would I enjoy playing it based on my interests in homeworld?

and is there a demo for EVE as well? I seem to remember an advert a while ago telling me there was but i was too interested in zero punctuation, it does look a good game

what are peoples thoughts?

You can get 14 day trials of eve from the site, or if you get a current member to refer you you get a 21 day trial iirc.

Well, what is it that compells you to Homeworld? If it's pseudo-free space, then EVE is for you. If it's spaceship and tool variety, then EVE is for you. If it's management challenges in a limiting enviroment, then, no, EVE will not replace Homeworld. But it's still worth your time.
