I had always wanted to get into the game as it seems to be a heavy comunity game but i found the waiting 2 weeks to learn a skill to by just silly. Especially as there really wasnt much to do while you wait other than to fly out into space, mine ore, return and sell. Then rinse repeat all day long or atleast thats my experiance with the trial.

I also dont agree with purma-death. Yea sure it makes your more carful and makes it feel more intense but all thats not gonna matter if you just come across a griefer who's had a bad day and wants to cheer him self up. And seriously. You pay this utter fortune to buy and fit these high end majestic ships but then you dont fly them becouse theres a slight chance you get hit. I just dont see the point.

one thing the price is actully cheaper than WoW and you dont even have to buy CD's or even if you do you get a month free. Anouther thing there is no 14 day skill learn time biggest ive seen is 9 and theres so much you can do while waiting for it to finish like socailise, sleep watch anime you know all other stuff lol and it was only your opinion because all you did was mine and you didnt do anything else.

It was nice to see an MMO that wasn't based off the everquest model, but I couldn't really get into it.

I just quit the game. From a game architecture point of view there are quite a few flaws that really boil down to communication of what the game is about. The game seems to have organically evolved from a space PvP game to a market based grinder PvP game. The interface is confusing to new players (personal observation and observing newbie chat for a month) with plenty of hidden capabilities that are difficult to access and use.

I did really enjoy flying through space. I like the atmosphere but it only lasts a few days. Then you realize the game isn't about the visuals - it is a spreadsheet and menu-fest that has to constantly overlay the display. I've even seen recommendations users zoom out all the way, turn off sound, and play it more like space chess (iconic) than a visually exciting space game.

There are some interesting points to the game. I'm an old board game and table top role player and it definitely reminds me of GURPS and Traveller, with some potential economic play - which is really based on the grind of mining, salvaging, and selling of mission items.

Go try it if you haven't! But I'm dropping out to build my own space game and need the time to myself for a few months!

I played the week long demo, i just went out into the vastness of space and pirated the ever loving hell out of it. Lacked a goal to work towards to though, had trouble finding my place in the universe.

Ill probably buy it again, Any fellow members want to start up a group and convert the universe to Escapism?

To be honest its spin-off game in the making Dust 514 intrigues me more

Three Goals that keep me playing EvE

1: Building my Own Capital class ship and Getting in on some heavy hitting fleet Ops

2: Playing the Blackmarket, none of this Pirating bullshit, some gods honest smuggling, Found one low-sec to high sec Wormhole route, Time to Make me some Drugs for the noobies ;P

3: Work on my Liason Job untill i make a good few contacts with the big players, then try my hand at Setting up a place in 0.0 to run, Then work on making my own empire

Three years down, think it might take me another 3 to make these goals

Yes your right it was only my opinion. Dosnt mean its any less valid than anyone elses. Still have to pay for a game where your suggesting i log on, start training, then log off and watch tv. yea sounds well worth a monthly sub.

Want to build an industrial empire? You can start right out the gate with your very own mining frigate. Want to eventually captain a battleship in large scale fleet combat? The path is available. Want to support your friends and confound your enemies with sophisticated electronic warfare packages? You can do that. Do you just want to explore the vast expanse of space (the game has ~5,000 unique Star Systems and hundreds of thousands of planets and moons (if not millions))? You can even do that.

But to what end?

You might as well ask that question about any video game you ever play.

Get yourself in a huge corp and get in some fleets, that's where the fun is.

I played EVE and I had alot of fun. PvP was awesome but I was always on the losing side of it or unfortunate enough to get jumped in 0.0 space, so I became paranoid about doing anything too risky. Sorta fell out of the game after that, have considered getting back into it but with some crazy expensive ships I would just get depressed if I got them destroyed.

In 2009 I had the choice of either playing Darkfall or EvE.....I chose Darkfall.
