EVE Online

So... I recently (and by recently I mean more than a month ago) got sucked into this smelly space-mmo game where I fly around in space shooting things and make alot of in-game currency to satisfy my bizarre interests. It's been fun, but... i've also been a bit short on friends to play with, and that got me thinking... are there Escapists who play this game too?

Anyway, do any of you out there on The Escapist also play EVE, or played it in the past? Either way, what do you think of this game? Is it fun for you, or just yet another evil MMO that turns gaming into a job?

I played it. I had just finished reading Donaldson's Gap Chronicles, and the idea of mining asteroids with a spaceship seemed impossibly glamorous and exciting to me. So I grabbed my space ship, set out, and mined the SHIT out of some asteroids.

Three days and 30,000 asteroids later, I'd had my fill.

I play sometimes. That is, I make a free-trial account and play for a couple weeks before starting over because it's really fun, but I don't want to spend $10 a month to play it.

Understandable, which is why i'm trying to pay by using PLEX instead. Being able to potentially play an MMO for free is pretty yummy. :3
