I'm sure everyone remembers the PR apocalypse CCP set unto themselves a few weeks/months ago regarding their microtransactions - namely that buying clothes for your character cost more money than buying real clothes for yourself, and the Incarna expansion being brutally disappointing. I cancelled my subscription shortly after it died down because I was getting too bored to justify the subscription fee and I had a friendship-ending argument with my best friend in the game.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email offering me a few free days of game time and a cheaper first months's subscription, in a somewhat pleasing attempt to tug me back into the game world.
I thought "Aw, CCP is making a genuine effort to regain our custom. Maybe it's time I tried the game again."
Wrong.
I went to the website, credit card in hand, to try to give them my money, when the following error message came up:
'User is not valid for campaign.'
So they sent me a form letter, despite my account being excluded from this offer, in a shallow and ultimately 'we really don't fucking care' attempt to weasel me back into what is really the most boring deep-space adventure ever conceived. And this is coming from someone who played for upwards of four years.
tl;dr - CCP needs to fire its Public Relations department.
