Ok I was watching TV just the other day and this guy bring up a point the he feels society has brain washed him. Like when he would walk through all the ropes at a bank, even if no was there in line. So he could have jumped it or went around, but he went through anyway.

So something that is a culture norm that you do, even if no one else is around to care.

Like for example. I just cannot open a can of soda in a store and drink it and pay for the can on the way out. I just have to pay the guy first. Even if he's 10 feet away, and knows I'm going to pay him. I have to have change in hand before I even take a sip

Hmm i've always payed first like you but the cashier never KNOWS that I'm going to pay so it might be different.

I don't feel brainwashed for instance once in a holiday in Florida a ride had basically no one on it to I went under all of the barriers.

I know what you mean, but nope. If there's no reason to follow a pattern/rule/norm I just don't.

The rope thing's just fun to do. I sometimes stop and pretend there's a queue.

The drink thing I understand though, because it's technically not your property at that time and the shop owner has no guarantee you're going to pay.

I don't think this condones as being "brainwash" more as it would having "habits". There isn't anything necessarily wrong with with sny of the "habits" listed above. Some people just have a certain way of doing something.

But what if you were being brainwashed into saying that they were being brainwashed into saying that you were being brainwashed about being brainwashed?!

Most people have been conditioned by their upbringing in some way. It just natural. A lot of things we do in public is out of conditioned politeness so we can all tolerate each other.

A quick study of Biology and Psychology will reveal just how badly brainwashed you are by your own psyche.

actually following a pattern without reason of context falls under three things psychologically and socially speaking, A: insanity (but for this you have to keep doing something that doesn't work and expect a differing result), B: brain washing, whereby a person through a repetitive series of situations created artificially "learns" to do something simply because they are told to, and C:... ummm, oh dammit I forgot what 'c' was, oh well another time perhaps, sufficed to say if he can recognize that he's been brainwashed, then whoever is behind it didn't do a very good job.

I do the same thing! Or I'll wait at the spot where you stop and look confused as to where I should go, even if there's like 5 tellers waiting to help me. I just wait for one of them to wave me over, but conveniently forget to make eye contact with anyone. Screws with them hard.

As for the drink thing, I guess I've just always paid for something before I ate or drank it. I've never found myself so hardup for liquid that I can't just wait until it's paid for.

I have been brainwashed once. It was being employed for AT&T where I had to drive away from home to a city for two weeks for training to soak up the image and how to be an example employee of AT&T.

It really tested my patience and will power because they were 10 hour sessions straight of doing grade school activities and watching anything related to AT&T.
Are you sure it was AT&T, and not some kind of religious cult commune?

i don't feel brainwashed...

i do have a lot of those mental limitations that force me to conform to strange minor rules no one else pays attention to, but i never felt brainwashed into obeying them.

it's just my own strange mentality...
