Have you ever been playing a game just to come to the realization halfway through that every choice you made was a Roleplaying one, one you thought was right for your character and nothing else and that actually you were roleplaying simply because of the do's and dont's of your character?

I'll give you an example:

So I'm playing dishonored and whilst browsing the forums I realized multiple things
First I'm playing the game as I think it would be motivated to play it, I started trying to do an a non lethal all stealth run however when I was playing I found a distinction between evil characters (Characters that deserved to die) and neutral and good characters.
For example the guards chucking corpses of a roof and stealing the money from the dead DIE.
But the guard and the maid who are to be married in the near future in a laboratory LIVE.

Second I realized only when browsing the forums that people actually use blink alone to get around sometimes or assassinate people, however I only use blink to well get to places you can't climb towards.

Third I saw myself doing perfect stealth for the first time in a game ever because I feel it's the right way to do it, when my cover is blown I either do quick takedowns and try to make them non-lethal or I load a previous save.

Fourth I found myself quicksaving a lot just so that my playthrough wouldn't break character.

So have you ever experienced a moment in gaming where you were roleplaying without realizing it?

Well my last run through Fallout: NV I was using a riot shotgun and riot armor. So I guess I was Role playing as a riot cop or something.

Yeah, during Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, actually. That game gives you a bunch of characters as sort of a party-stuffer kind of thing. They don't tell you anything about them, so I was making up backstories, personalities and relationships for all of them before I knew what I was doing. To a lesser extent, I did this in Fire Emblem as well. But because of the perma-death thing, it didn't really work out. I got too upset when any of my characters died.
