Ok, it's my first thread, and I'm pretty sure it fits in here more than Off-Topic. Anyway...

Due to something that happened a couple of months ago, I started looking at my life differently, realising the importance of my friends, and being a more sociable person. Now, in recent weeks, I've hardly touched my consoles or Steam games. Maybe you're thinking I made the decision to stop gaming, but that's not the case.
I was once quite content to sit and play games for hours. Now, it just doesn't appeal to me. Even if I'm sitting inside, and boredom strikes, I'll just sit on the internet and listen to music, because I don't believe that switching the Xbox on will entertain me at all. Really, the only time I'll even go on the Xbox is if one of my friends wants to play Burnout Paradise for a while, which is rare. I bought Dissidia: Final Fantasy recently, but I've not even played that much.

So, has gaming ever suddenly lost its appeal to any of you people?

No, I have found the opposite.

I can't be bothered socialising with the immature retards my age and enjoy gaming far more...
If anything this has increased as I have realised how immature and retard-ish others are.

I'll answer your question by not answering it. Does that fit for an answer of your standards?

As I have grown older, there is simply not as much time to play games. Especially since quitting WoW, i stopped making so much time for games.

I tend to play more older games, and I'm much more particular about which games i'll spend my time playing.

Also, I spend as much time collecting games as I do playing them. Dear god, im becoming an old fogey.

Sometimes...happened recently, actually.
And the fact I've finished most of them as well, probably contributed...
Yeahhhhhhh...I have.

I lose interest if like I'm very depressed about something. Like once I stopped playing because I got a friend of mine very mad at me so I was depressed about that.

Sorry if that seemed like an order, I was just trying to make it clear that I was talking about losing interest, and not making a decision to stop playing. I'll just remove that I guess.

I can pretty much second all of the above. I've had a couple instances lately where I've bought games and not even taken them out of the shrink-wrap for weeks. At 28, I just don't have the time or seemingly the will to sit around gaming as much as I used to. I've been gaming since I was about 5 on the Atari 2600, so I don't see myself ever fully giving it up, but still, growing up has to happen at some point, I guess. I still get a day every now and then where I'm free for a while and just fire something up for a few hours, usually TF2 or an old NES or SNES game.

I'm going to try and play a little Aion when I have time...Dragon Age looks great, other than that, nothing is really getting me all that excited.

I've sworn off the MMOs, but dragon age? Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate?

I'm in.

We're the same age, too. 28 must be the end of youth.

This happened to me 2 years ago. I sold my GameCube, PS3, DS, PSP, PS2, and GameBoy, along with all the games I had.

I just recently bought a DS again, of which I hardly play.

Well, since I have become a bit spoiled by current-generation graphics I am sometimes disappointed when I play an old PS2 game and start wondering, "Wow, I used to think this looks great...?". Also I don't really have many games I bother to replay every once in a while, so I often find myself rather watching a few hours of Futurama audio commentaries than using my consoles for games. The last three days I've actually found that writing my term paper about American Modernisms is more interesting than TV or games... seriously, I only stopped writing an hour ago, and it is now 4.30am over here.
So yeah, I guess I have cut down on my gaming a bit, but once I'm done with my paper (which should be tomorrow) I'll go rent a new game... I think Ultimate Alliance 2 is going to be released around here tomorrow. ^^

Just to throw it out there, I'm 19 and entering my second year of university. Still young, but I think it's due to the fact that I've changed a fair bit as a person in recent times. Anyway, I'm calling it a night, but I'll catch up on other peoples' contributions tomorrow.

I WANT to play Fallout 3. I really do. But everytime I go to play I just play CoD 4 instead.

Probably has to do with the endless running in the game.

Broke up with the girlfriend, one of my rats died, the other is now pretty sick, I've got no money and have to work extra hours at my part time job just to cover the bills and I'm surviving on noodles from the local supermarket discount aisle.

Yeah, games have taken a back seat of late. I traded in most of my old games to get new ones so my collection has shrunk somewhat and to be honest I'm finding it hard to get joy out of anything just now. Still, at least there's alcohol and my bed.

Everything gets boring given enough time.
I usually find a fun game and keep playing it non stop until it loses its appeal, or until the novelty wears off.
Then I move on to greater things.

I will periodically go through fits of gaming and friendship. It goes like this: Xbox 360, friends, Nintendo DS, books, and then PC games. The cycle is rather nice.

Frequently, actually.
Once I've started playing a game, there's a high chance I'll keep playing it for hours.
Making myself play it in the first place, however, is damn near impossible.
This doesn't apply to just games, though. I've been finding it difficult to make myself do anything, lately.
You know. Except for lying in bed, wishing I was asleep.
That I could do for hours.

This is my problem. While I have (in fact, am currently experiencing) losing interest the games I own, I don't have much incentive to go out and interact with a country full of people who constantly irritate me. Maybe the problem is just that I've beaten my games probably three times each . . . I need some new games . . .
