Ever "zone out" while playing a game?

In WoW when I'm not zoned out I can't play at all and get bored after a few minutes.

I've had it happen a lot more with books and movies though, and often have to see/read the same thing multiple times to fully remember it.

It happens all the time. But then you're aware that you've zoned out and subsequently you instantly get worse and you wish you'd just ignored it.

I can purposely zone out when listening to a specific band or song. I daydream, and when it's over, I am sad.

Usually it only happens when I'm playing flash games or whatever. You know, the repetitive button-clickers.

I do this CONSTANTLY when im driving. I will just go on autopilot and then think to myself "Thank god nothing happened that would have caused an accident... because I wouldnt have noticed it. In reality, I think I would have noticed it only because I stop at reds when im in the zone and other stuff like that, but sometimes I find myself forgetting whether or not I went the speed limit on a certain road or something like that

There's a few elements of gameplay I find tedious. Shooters, usually, leave something to be desired, and I find myself auto-piloting myself through it. Old games I can breeze through. Or. in certain games, when I've hit high enough level and just breeze through the fights with a ultimate attack combinations of the moment...yeah, it happens a few times.

usually happens when I'm trying to multi-task like when I get a call and decide to not pause the game.

I don?t really zone out like that with games, I do mostly with books and occasionally with movies if I end up on some thought tangent. It?s probably strongest with books because I end up watching it in my mind, so I focus on that and don?t realise I?m still reading on. Not that I don?t zone out with games, It?s just more of a, oh shit where did the last 3 hours go kind of deal. That kind of zoning out happens more often and with a lot more things.

On a similar note, anyone zoned out while they were walking somewhere? It used to happen in school going to class. I would just start thinking about something and suddenly I?m at the classroom, that or heading to a different destination than I should have been because my auto pilot got it wrong.
