when you live in a country where almost everyone seems to have an unhealthy love for hockey, it is bothersome to let people know that you don't give a rats ass about it. mainly because they act as if you have a mental deficiency and of coarse the classic "you don't like hockey? you are not a Canadian!" cause apparently my devotion to a sport makes me a member of a country...

I have however been insulted for not liking meat (I am a vegetarian as of late, yes), for not liking cricket, for not liking Glee and for not liking chocolate.
I'm kinda in your boat. I only eat chicken (and once in a blue moon bacon) when it comes to meat, and people give me crap for it pretty often. I don't think I could live without chocolate, though. You must have some massive will power.

I was just chewed out by many a 12 year old in the Pixar thread for saying that I thought Up was boring.
I saw that. Insanity. Got you probation too. Sorry to hear that.

OT: I once got crap for not liking the Beatles (I mentioned I didn't like them in another thread) by both my girlfriend and best friend. My best friend was more so joking, but he went on with it for a while, demanding I know the names of the artists. So uh, that got old, haha.

I find chocolate too rich for some reason. Also when it comes to those flavored milks, I choose the vanilla flavor over chocolate.

The catch phrase in my primary/elementary school was 'gay', so if you didn't like something everyone else did you were gay and I don't support a football team. Thats soccer for you Americans.

I actually hear people being made fun of for not liking Magic The Gathering, Warhammer/Warmachine tabletop wargames, or other geeky things. That said, it's all in good fun and dropped after that one comment, then sodas or snacks passed around.

On the other hand, I have had the interesting pleasure of gaming with people who kept linking things to me and taking it personal that a chick isn't nearly as interested in Real World military hardware as a guy is.

I've been insulted for not liking Glee, Lady Gaga and other such pop music, and things such as that.

By two of my former friends. Twins. Men.

The biggest sheep I've ever known. Their entire justification for liking what they like is that it's popular. And because metal isn't seen in the public eye so much, metal isn't popular and therefore METAL IS SATAN MUSIC AND YOUR MUSIC TASTE SUCKS.

Glad school's over forever now, don't have to put up with their bullshit anymore.

I have been called a "fag" for not liking MW2.

Honestly that is one noob shooter game filled with idiotic perks and killstreaks. I remember the good old days of Counterstrike 1.6 those where the days.

I couldnt say how many times ive been called "gay" (or any other colorful term) when i say i hate football (american football, not "soccer" honestly I think America should get rid of our fooball and just call soccer football). Ive just never seen the point of a group of men running at each other from opposite ends of a field and bashing into one another.

Things that get me flak for not caring about:
*American Football
*American Idol (though this is more due to an active dislike rather than simple apathy)
*New York Yankees
*The fact that Twilight changed the mythos behind the creatures (truly, her piss-poor writing bothers me more)
*Call of Duty multiplayer

Most sports (including Hockey - I'm a Canadian, but I don't like sports. Get the fuck over it), Glee, MW2, Pop Music, Twilight (I'm so hurt /sarcasm), and Facebook.

Maybe its because "mainstream" has become much broader and inclusive as of late, or perhaps it's my imagination.
To quote The Cure (and don't you DARE not like them!):
Everyone's happy; they're fianlly all the same, because everybody's jumping everybody else's train.
Try not liking rap, football or lager.

People make fun of me all the time because I don't follow American Football and live minutes away from the New England Patriots' home field (I don't even know what the stadium is called). Sorry but it just doesn't thrill me like soccer baseball or hockey.
