Well I finished building my gaming computer recently and I am wondering if anyone knows of any free downloads I can amuse myself with until I get some money to buy a few games. Any suggestions?

NOOOOOO!!!!! Are you trying to torture the guy? Runescape is probably the worst thing he can go for, with Travian a close second.

I'd say go for anything on Kongregate or YoYoGames (there's crap there, but there's also plenty of gold: http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/49356 - shameless self-promotion, but worth it).

Also, take a look at the Auditorium demo and the free download dmo of World of Goo. Every Friday check out Alt+Delete on this site as well, they tell you about some of the best free browser based games on the web.

You should probably say what games you like, so's you don't get a lot of suggestions for free FPSs if you only like MMOs (and if you do, what I'm about to say won't help.)

Um, Marathon (http://source.bungie.org/get/) is a good bet, as it has a decently deep story line and is a helluva lot of fun.

If not EVE, WoW and prolly most other MMO's have free trials.

I found a free copy of Fallout 1 using torrents, and I recommend that you look for it. It's well worth it, and it's only a 500 MB download.

I recommend Castle of the Winds. It's a pretty fun roguelike, if you're into those (found here, near the bottom).

I actually so have WoW but I don't feel like downloading it onto my new computer and I have to renew my subscription...
