Everything that's wrong with fighting games has been conveniently condensed into one video.

Which is here. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Mz9AgHrwhg&feature=related]

Long combos, shitty licenses and the use of (horrible looking) 3D when you really don't need it and I could start listing the more problems just from that video.

Yeah, if you make a fighting game, don't make Fate/Unlimited Codes. It'll only end in tears.

Wait... whats your point?
Oh, I thought the video was so hilarious that I wanted to share it. You know, from a poor game design standpoint. If we had a "random video game related links" thread here, I'd have posted it there.

...I fail to see the point of this thread besides whining that you don't like the anime look...

I'm not sure why you're bothering with this one. You probably haven't played it since it's fairly rare outside of Japan and to top things off, it's a fighter based off an anime/manga. They're never exactly AAA titles.

From what I hear from people who have played it, however, is that the game is fun, but nothing to take seriously. See also: Blazblue, Battle Fantasia, ect.

I really, really wish we could have less threads of ignorant bitching and moaning about games that either (a) don't exist yet or (b) no one has played. That'd be great. Christmas wish, maybe?

Then again, you don't really have to play Limbo of the Lost and/or Big Rigs to really confirm they're bad after you've seen the videos. Not expecting an AAA title is fine too: doujin fighters like Melty Blood, Big Bang Beat and Immaterial and Missing Power do their thing really well even if I don't like them. I even liked Senko no Ronde despite it getting rather... lukewarm reviews. And it's quite different from any fighter seen before.

The game has a PS2 version out and the ones I've know playing it mostly play practice mode, since it's like a bad Tekken.

And who's bitching? I think it's one of the most hilarious things I've seen this week. I thought there'd be people out there that would think it's as funny as I did. It's fun to laugh at hilariously awful games.

Not really, its more of a "standard", noting special about it but its definitely not "terrible" as you say. "Juggles" usually require some level of skill and timing to execute.
Juggles are standard, yes, but not juggles that take a whole health bar. But yeah, long juggles are the reason why I'm not terribly fond of Tekken either, though I do play it every now and then since I have friends that are really into it. More mind-games, less menial combo memorization, I say.

I did not find the video funny. It was entertaining because the people (or person) were (was) making an attempt to play without resorting to button smashing. As for the license, I do not know what manga/anime it's refering to, but looks different enough to make me find out what it is about. The combos are not that long. If you want long combos, search Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Youtube. There are combos that last over 100 hits. My final point is that if you say that this is like a bad Tekken, that is still a complient. Bad or not, Tekken is still Tekken.

This would be relevant if the characters didn't start with 3 full bars of life. So said long-ass combos take 33.333...% of the HP. I can do more than that with some combos in many beat'em ups... In some I can go as far as 70% hp.

Yeah, they're skilled, I'm not denying it. It's just that memorizing long combos isn't that interesting of a skill.

As for MvC2...there are plenty of games out there with infinite combos. They just have no point to them so they aren't played.

The reason MvC2 is still played is because the whole tag team system alleviates it somewhat so matches rarely end with a player basically cornering the other and doing the same move over and over till the timer runs out.

Thanks! I don´t know that series, But the game doesn´t look that bad.
Now that, is the definition of irony. Guy hates game, decides to post he hates it. Guy sees it and says it looks good. Haha, awesome.
Like I said, I just considered what I saw hilariously bad. Much like with a movie like Plan 9, I got some unintentional comedy out of it. If someone goes and tries it because of that, well, knock yourselves out.

It's the PS2 version with modified settings. The settings have been changed because of the instakill combos (caused by a bug in the damage scaling that lets you do supers for 100% damage so long as you combo it after what the game considers a projectile move). The arcade version with default settings, though, has none of this.

And of course, the Throw button, or as Yathzee(and I) call the Fuck You button.
That's all my friends use and they constantly beat me.

I do not like fighting games but I can tell that it takes too long to finish a fight and the aesthetic is unappealing.

the anime/manga were actually based off a dating sim game first (I believe all of which were H-games), so there's a bit more to lower your expectations

Edit: And, hell, that's not a long juggle. I've seen dust (juggle) attacks from guilty gear do more damage than that

Street fighter 2 had an infinity combo and it could well be the most played fighting game ever.
