Evolution's uses in a specific case.

K so, this idea struck me while reading the opening paragraph to that new "Evolution proves Creationism" thread and this one has NOTHING to do with religion I just have a question to ask.

So, People's who live near the equator evolved darker skin to protect them from the sun.

Some highland tribes in South America (I have no idea who, don't ask, I just remember it from some magazine I was reading) have as much as a 40% higher lung capacity then the average human.

Black ppl evolved giant dongs to make up for the whole slavery thing.

Now these evolutions are easily explained and cause a measurable benefit for the situations they were evolved in my question is this -

Why did Asians develop slanted eyes? From an evolutionary stand point.

I have wracked my brain (for almost 5 minutes before making the thread) and I cannot come up with anything. I was thinking perhaps some protection from a brighter sun, but then, a brighter sun? I don;t think that actually happened so that can;t be it.

(obviously the black people comment was meant to be humorous, if you are in any way offended by it, lighten up, you suck and I in no way apologize.)

Feel free to joke or whatever but also pls try to add something to or address my point, cause I am seriously curious.

I honestly don't know.

It happens in all mountainous places, because of the thinner air they're lungs become stronger to adapt. When they're at our ground level there is loads of air and they fin dit much easier to breathe in and hold their breath etc.

I have pondered upon this myself, and I reckon it may have something to do with the number of daylight hours they have. Or they're just weird.

This actually leads me on to a similar question: why do most black and asian people have dark hair? Surely that's detrimental considering dark hair absorbs heat, and they're from very warm climates.

You should also remember that sometimes random mutations occur that are neither beneficial nor hindering in procreation.
Maybe slanted eyes have some kind of advantage we don't know.
Maybe it's just a variant that turned out to be more succesful in procreation in that area because of social influences ("slanted eyes are cute ^-^" or whatever).
And maybe they have no meaning whatsoever and just randomly occured in an isolated population of people and flourished.

OP, I know you said your comment was meant to be funny, but it's in extremely bad taste. Plus, even if we ignore the bad taste for a minute, it wasn't even remotely funny anyway. It was just stupid.

Just because you meant it as a joke doesn't make it any more acceptable.

This is a doomed thread, but the slanted eyes thing was a random flux in evolution and has not been proved to be an advantage/disadvantage yet.
