So it's coming up to (or for some, already in) the fun fun exam season. Of course we should all spend less time on internet forums and more time doing, you know, actual work, but that doesn't usually happen during the early stages.

What are your rituals or processes to try and ensure you get some work done? Do you lock yourself away in your room with no gaming equipment and force yourself to work all day? Or do you not find it necessary to pass your exams?

Personally, I remove my consoles and handheld gaming equipment and make a fuckton of notes.

On that note I might request a suspension from a mod until the end of my exams. Does that exclude me from (eventually) getting the fabled Neo badge since it's technically mod wrath?

Happy revision =]

I get up at about 8 every morning and head into the library, I find it impossible to study anywhere else, far too many distractions.

I don't change anything. I can force myself to study when need be, and removing things just makes me want to use them more. I'll play games when I get the urge, and I'll play for as long as I want. Exams aren't that big of a deal for me.

And yes, I believe the suspension would exclude you from Neo.

Ahhh bugger.

OT: I find getting loads of sleep helps but I usually stay up late the night before the exam panic-revising.

Well I'm still in high school for 2 more days, and I've never taken any AP classes, so mostly my ritual involves lots of videogames due to the lack of homework.

To be honest I don't really study for my exams. However if I'm doing a literature exam I'll google important quotes and try to memorize a couple. And for Math (since IB HL is a *****) I will study quite hard by reading through my notes, doing a bunch of questions of various types. When my actual exams show up (as in my end of IB exams) I'm guessing I'll end up studying really hard.

Study or not, I will always forget my calculator. Maybe that's why at Uni I took up an Art subject...

I never study the same day, but that's about it. Seems that if I read something for the exam the same day, that pretty much guarantees I won't remember that bit.

Here is my current 10-step plan to revision.

Step 1: Procrastinate.
Step 2: Look at web resources and not understand any of it.
Step 3: Procrastinate some more. Start smoking again.
Step 4: Find/print hard copies of lecture slides, actually read the stuff and understand about half of it.
Step 5: Work out exactly how much percentage of each given exam will add to coursework mark to give 40%
Step 6: Smile because it isn't as bad as it could have been.
Step 7: Find friend to revise with.
Step 8: Procrastinate with friend.
Step 9: Try to predict what questions will come up.
Step 10: Revise the living shite out of those subjects.

I do absolutely nothing to prepare for tests. It's not that I procrastinate to put off studying, I just do no studying, there's no "putting off" something you don't plan to do in the first place.

So far so good, I get mostly A's, and am headed off to college this fall.
