Funny how you choose to ignore all the facts that Sony is arguably the best publisher in the whole industry, not just better than Nintendo. I never even thought about Sony like that until my last post. What publisher is even close to Sony when considering variety, quantity, and quality? It's definitely not EA, Ubisoft, Activision, or Nintendo.

The only way a game is factually good or bad is if that's your personal fact (aka opinion) after playing the game.

Name any movie, book, album, etc that ever scored an average of 98. So the new Zelda game has better writing than the best book or movie, better music than the best score or album, and better gameplay than the best game? Because that's what a freaking average of 98 means and that's why the score is bullshit no matter how good the game is. How can a game score higher than the highest rated movie when movies have less elements than a game? Secondly, what's the point of game reviews when every game is rated as GREAT? Reviews are nothing but ads for the game. For example, the original Ghostbusters has more negative reviews than Final Fantasy XIII.

I literally said I haven't played the new Zelda so I can't say how good it is but I can tell you it's no 98/100 either because that's impossible. I can't say Horizon is better than Zelda because I haven't played Zelda. I very much doubt Zelda is better than Horizon because of how freaking amazing Horizon is.

You're going to claim that Nintendo is better just because at the present moment there's a 98/100 game on their system. Nintendo releases games at a snail's pace and very rarely innovates anymore. And, yet again, you fail to comment on how great a publisher Sony is.

I remember not even knowing what was on SEGA because I didn't have one. I had a Nintendo and all I ever looked at was the Nintendo section, so it never even occured to be to look at what the other console had.

My cousin had a SEGA with NBA Jam, and that is literally all I knew from SEGA until he got in trouble and was forced to give me the system, where I promptly learned about Sonic games and Streets of Rage.

I understand why exclusive exsist and honestly it is good to have them. You see when there are exclusives for a system, especially good exclusives, it lends companies to try and 1-up each other. Which means each console is trying to have the biggest and baddest exclusives. Ideally we get a 360/PS3 situation where both consoles end up with some very very good games.

Sadly this generation Playstation 4 is fucking murdering Xbox One. Love Sony or not, you have to admit that their system is getting some really good shit, while the Xbox is getting....nothing?

Nintendo doesn't count imo. Their last console was fantastic if you were still 12 and in love with mario, and yarn-based games, I mean I even had fun with them and I'm way older than I should be for them. But Nintendo has spent sooo long obessed with gimmicks that they kind of forgot to be a supported game system.

The Switch has Zelda....that's it. For now. I hope that the stuff that is promised really comes true and we finally have a 3rd player in the console market again. But from what I've seen, the Switch is in some trouble.

For a lot of people, consoles are just a way to play games in general, and that is the reason why consoles exist; people want to have a relative easy and carefree way to play their games. For many people, exclusives are just the icing on the cake that tips the scales in favor of one company over another.

Look at weekly or monthly sales charts for games and you see a lot of third party multi-platform games on there, Fifa, Call of Duty, GTAV, Resident Evil 7, Madden, etc.

if there were no exclusives there would be no competition between the 1st parties and thus no incentive for Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft to make the best possible games or hardware they can.

if the 1st parties didn't have any competition they would end up being just as lazy as alot of those 3rd parties we have at the moment like EA, Ubisoft and Sega who all only really seem to care just about sales these days

I actually had this conversation recently with my uncle and cousin. My uncle laments exclusivity because he'd much rather play his games on his PC, which completely outclasses his PS4. Unfortunately, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are in competition with one another. They need their consoles to stand out in some way. That's where exclusives come in. It's unfortunate, but there really isn't much to be done about it. I'm always glad to hear it when exclusives become, well, less exclusive. I was happy to hear Kingdom Hearts 3 will be releasing on Xbox One. Less so when I found out 1.5 and 2.5 wont be.

Honestly, I'd love to play Breath of the Wild, but I don't want to buy a Switch.

the last PS4 game to score over 90/100 average on metacritc was Uncharted 4 and before that last Playstation game i remember getting a 90+ score on metacritc was The Last of Us and came out all the way back in June 2013 and was a PS3 game.
point is Sony consistently release's good games sure, but it's not like they consistently release amazing games like you're trying to make out.

Funnily enough, speaking of exclusives, I'm not buying the Switch anytime soon because of the fact that it lacks any exclusives that really jump out at me. Sure, there's BoTW, but I've already got a Wii U, sooo... we'll see what happens when a Pokemon game comes out for it.

As for other exclusives to consoles - honestly, I just wait and pick up the consoles for cheap. The last console I bought near launch was the 3DS, but that was less for exclusives and more 'I am on public transportation for two hours every day'. Everything else I picked up much later - I got my Wii U when Xenoblade 2 came out (in a nice cheap bundle) and my PS4 late last year during a holiday sale in a huge bundle and when I had a big stack of store credit from trading in a stack of Xbox 360 games.

Have to say, gotten a lot more mileage out of the PS4 than the Wii U when it comes to exclusives - Hyrule Warriors and Xenoblade 2 are fun, but my current Wii U library sits at 8 while my PS4 library is... 59. Then again, my PC library is 253, soooo... whatever, we'll call it a draw.

Splatoon is no killer app. I actually played a bit of that one, it's a nice little game with a fun concept that needs to be fleshed out in a sequel. Naughty Dog alone has made as many recognizable new IPs in less time than Nintendo. New IPs is something Sony might do more than any other publisher when you think about it. That results in more misses but something fresh and different is worth those misses.

Smash Bros is Smash Bros, it's basically the same game with minor tweaks and added characters. It has sometimes less changes than a yearly sports game. And those new characters would be DLC for any other fighting game.

LittleBigPlanet already has 3 games and it's so superior to Mario Maker it's not even funny.

Nioh and Yakuza aren't technically Sony games, just 3rd-party exclusives (so far at least). Yakuza has its dedicated fanbase. Nioh looks to be something that could be memorable, it's like Dark Souls but with a combat system that might have actual depth. I'm going to try it out at some point.

yeah Splatoon is no killer app, so i agree since the first game was a pretty simple game made on a low budget, i'm also expecting big things from Splatoon 2 now that Nintendo's seen how much of a success the first game was. it would be a disservice to the name if Splatoon wasn't bigger and better than the first game.

And that without saying I could spend those 300-400+ on a new computer to play those exclusive too (witcher, fallout)

Listen to Tippy, he is a wise and just fellow. The good part about Playstation stuff, is that it gets cheaper over time. That's my plan for the PS4, I'm just going to wait for the PS5 or whatever comes after the Pro. The prices will drop.

Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 are the reasons I want a Wii U, but it hasn't dropped in price (I believe). Something like Wonderful 101 sold less than say Watch Dogs, but I bet Wonderful 101 will have more people that remember it very fondly vs something like Watch Dogs. I really liked Watch Dogs myself but I'm not going to be like 10 years from now to a friend "remember Watch Dogs, that game was so awesome". Whereas Wonderful 101 could be one of those type games. Vanquish is my 2nd favorite PS3 game after Bayonetta, I'll remember it more than even Uncharted 2. I saw you can play Gamecube and Wii games on the Wii U as well. I never played the Viewtiful Joe games and I'd love to play them, and getting a Wii U is a way to play them. I would've had a Wii U by now if Nintendo didn't make me buy a tablet I don't want to use the system.

I literally don't care about hype. Hyping me for a game when there's no game to play doesn't not at fix the problem of there being no game to play. I'll watch a unedited gameplay walkthrough of a mission from a game to see if it looks good, then that's literally the last time I'll even pay attention to the game until there's a beta/demo or it releases. Even when Metal Gear Solid was in it's hey-day and my favorite series, I didn't care about analyzing trailers to find clues about the plot, I'll play it when it comes out, I know it's going to be good.

I saw you can play Gamecube and Wii games on the Wii U as well. I never played the Viewtiful Joe games and I'd love to play them, and getting a Wii U is a way to play them. I would've had a Wii U by now if Nintendo didn't make me buy a tablet I don't want to use the system.

actually that's not true. Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii Discs but not Gamecube Discs. the only gamecube games playable on Wii U are those Zelda Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remasters they did.


fucking retarded they didn't even give us digital Gamecube games on the virtual console though. especially since they even made that Gamecube controller adapter for Smash Bro. would have been perfect for virtual console Gamecube Games. maybe we might see Gamecube Virtual console on the Switch at some point hopefully.









as for the tablet itself, aside from the L & R buttons being awkwardly placed the way they are above the ZL & ZR buttons i found the Wii U Gamepad to be one of the comfiest controllers i've ever had with on the Gamecube, Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers being comfier.
everyone says the Switch is a great size but i actually find it a bit awkward in handheld mode and even with the joy cons on their own. playing with the Joy Cons in the Grip is the comfiest way i find playing this system. everyone says the Wii U Gamepad was too big but i personally found it to be a great size with the Switch being a bit too small if anything.
