Ok mabye from a money making/ buisness point of veiw when it comes to consoles I guess theres a reason for exclusives to sell consoles

and theres also the technical side of things when a port is just out of the question, (like porting WOW or starcraft 2 to the xbox....well unless its possible but you would need a mouse/keyboard)

but really I feel as consumers exclusives are just...a rip off I mean consoles are expensive and its stupid to be prevented from playing a really good game just because you chose the wrong console

and games not being ported to PC when they damn well can be, I dont expect it to be completley re-designed to suit a PC, I just want to play the thing.....is that too much to ask?

ok I guess porting takes time and money...but still

Most games that are exclusives are either funded by the company that owns the consoles (Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, God of War for PS3, Halo for 360), making cross platform idiotic, or are done by a small team that legitimately can't reasonably port the game over (the latter is more common with indie devs, for obvious reasons)

you'll never get that from 1st party developers due to wanting your money for their systems but 3rd party developers should port their work. Although sometimes there's contractual obligations to whatever system they develop for first.

Well I can understand the PS3 holding its exclusives over the 360 considering it was so damn expensive at the start but bear in mind those were mostly Sony run corporations or they had something to do with it and they threw money their way for not releasing it on other consoles probally.

For the user it's a dick move no matter the exclusive. Hell yeah I'd like Halo on my PS3, and friends of mine would like LittleBigPlanet on their 360's.

For Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo though, they're a good enticement.

Mostly this. Why port Pokemon to the PSP when you know people will buy a DS just to play it?

ahh ok I didnt think about it like that....I guess if theyre funded by the console makers

but still it kinda sucks for the consumer, but I guess if there were no exclusives we might as well just of one standard for consoles

PC exclusives make a lot of sense, since the control medium is well... exclusive to the platform. If you could plug a keyboard and mouse into the PS3 and 360, then I'd say do away with those as well, but at this point, those seem to make a lot of sense. Wii exclusives will also have to stick around since those games are so drastically different in design and control scheme. However, between the 360 and PS3, we really need to do away with console exclusives. They are an incredibly dated idea, and I sincerely hope that the next generation doesn't have them. Launch exclusives maybe, but then port the bastards.

Because if you didn't have exclusives there'd be no point in having multiple consoles. As consoles are static pieces of hardware the most cost-worthy console would be the one everybody would buy.

Valve once said that they didn't want to make a ps3 version of a game because they didn't feel like it,
i don't quite remember what game it was though,

Indeed. And it's nice of Microsoft to provide the tools free, as well as offer a membership allowing numerous game submissions for a (relatively) low price.
