Can't imagine this series would adapt to film well, never mind a TV show, never mind something with the structure of GoT. The games are structured in such a way that the story is inherently linked (^∀^) to the gameplay, without it it just wouldn't be Zelda.

I- I mean what are they going to do every episode?
It doesn't even need to be structured like the games. Zelda has a rich lore which allows them to create new stories without many problems. Rather than being set during a game, it might be set before or after some. It might be set during the imprisonment war which would make sense with the GoT reference. Or it might be after Skyward Sword where Hyrule is still being built.

I never understood why the water temple gets so much hate in OoT its not hard or anything. Hell Dark Link and the temple boss are easysauce.
Which version did you play? The 3DS or N64 version? Neither of them is hard but the N64 version was some of the most tedious segments in gaming history. Having to open up the slow menu, switch the page, pick up metal boots, close menu, do some short shit, open up the menu, switch page again, change boots again, close menu, do some short shit, repeat from start.
They fixed it in the remake.

I never found it to be really tedious I always had gold scale which cut a few of the boot parts out. But my question is mostly for people who act like the water temple is hard to do or confusing.

I havnt played the remake.

Legend of Zelda is only the beginning. They're actually trying to build a shared continuity with the entirety of the Smash Bros. lineup. Also in the works, an F-Zero series on Speed TV and an Animal Crossing holiday special on Bravo.

I'm not totally against this but for the love of god please keep him a silent protagonist. I don't know how that will work for TV but please make it work.
Given some good writing and directing a silent link could definitely work. Links lack of speech could even be worked into Link's character somehow. Maybe (just off the top of my head) as a very young child Link receives some sort of a brain injury that impedes his/her ability to speak properly. It's a bit disappointing that there aren't many films that are willing to explore the idea of a main character that doesn't or can't talk. Greystoke: Legend of Tarzan and Rise of The Planet of the Apes are some of the few that actually tried to make this work.

Out of all Nintendo franchises, why Zelda? It just won't translate well in adaptation.
If you're gonna do this, then why not Metroid or F-Zero? Hell, even Starfox could work! But Zelda?

And okay, you want something to offset Game of thrones, fine. Then go for Fire Emblem, it already has the permanent killing off, of the characters down.

Because this rumor is complete bunk; seriously, it came from the Wall Street Journal which is random enough as it is. And that's before we get into how Metroid, F-Zero, and Fire Emblem also wouldn't work. There is no need to worry; it's a complete falsehood we'll forget about in a week.

All this did was get me to go back and rewatch a bunch of the old cartoon series. Good stuff. I'll take that douchey version of Link any time. Reading the comments of those videos gives me cancer though. It is amazing how clueless some people are and their inability to gasp that only one game was out when the series was created.

Growing up I've always wanted to see a Final Fantasy cartoon series where every season emulated the stories told by the game. For example, the first episode of the season on FF3 would be end when they escape from Narshe. The second episode could end with Figaro Castle Sinking into the sand escaping from Kefka, etc.

I bring this up because a Legend of Zelda in the same format would be pretty cool in my opinion. Not live action but animated...and the animation styles could changed based on season. So the Majora's Mask season would be a much darker tone and grittier adult art style while the Wind Waker season would reflect the ultra clean and crisp colours of that world.

I honestly don't know how a live action Zelda tv show could made into anything compelling for adults though. The article mentiones a lighter Game of Thrones feel but I don't know how to take that. I guess we'd have story lines focuses on key Gorons, Humans, Aquatic guys (Zorra's I think?) struggling to unite internally and with each other to face an evil horde led by Ganon? Seems....odd.

I'll totally watch it out of curiosity if nothing else!

Majoras Mask would also need a nice dash of horror considering how dark the theme is.

Skyward Sword could be a multiple POV one with all the characters doing there own stuff. With a episode dedicated to the best character Goose

have Links Awakening use more unrealistic stuff and a way to incorporate the fact it's Links dream

Good stuff :)

The Zelda CDI games could be done in Hanna-Barbara Flinstones style!

that would serve as a family friendly equivalent of Game of Thrones...
Okay, look, I know GoT is pretty much what's going on for sword-and-sorcery fantasy in the spotlight right now, but come on. Saying "Family friendly equivalent of Game of Thrones" is like saying "the child-friendly equivalent of scotch on the rocks". By the time you've revised the original enough to meet the proviso, there is almost certainly a better way of describing it. ("...Or as we like to call it, root beer.")

As far as the show being described by "anonymous source" goes, Zelda is a broad enough canvas that one could make a really good show out of it. Or a really terrible one. The combination of a company like Nintendo hovering over its baby and a sub-GoT budget makes me fear that if such a thing came about, it would more likely be the latter, though.

A family friendly version of Game of Thrones??? lol Isn't that a little bit too much of an Oxymoron? That's like saying "We are aiming to produce a less 'Hitlery' version of mein kampf."

Incidentally it also reminded me of this old gem.

I kinda have fond memories of that series. Of course I used to watch the spanish dubbed version, in which Link had far less squeaky voice and sounded a little more heroic (although he still said that obnoxious catchphrase).
