I am currently waiting to start a new job and want to shed some unwanted pouunds in the meantime.

So I wondering what exercise regimes everyone is on (if you are on one), I might be taking some of your ideas for my own use.

If you want to shed pounds then just don't eat as much, that's the easiest thing in my mind and it's effective. Have an energy deficit.
Not a bad plan, already cut a meal out a day.

Cut the carbs, find some mates in similar mindset and do some circuit training. It is seriously the best way to get fit, and if you are a small group its easier to keep motivated since you will be pushing each other into not failing.

Setting a goal is important, like being able to run 5km in a week, 7.5km in two, 10km in three etc to keep you focused.

Here are some examples for interesting and stimulating circuit training:

Don't cut out a bloody meal, are you mad!

You can still eat breakfast lunch and dinner, just reduce your soda intake and the amount of junk food you eat. Another important thing is to drink more water.
Truth.

It's also important not to wait too long between meals either. Read this article which tells it better than I can.

Always drink water(1 glass every hour at the least), and replace any soda or soft drinks with water. Always eat breakfast, and never skip a meal like lunch or dinner. Doing so will make you pig out at the next meal. Your meals should be low in fat and calories. Cardio is also a big thing, always do around 20 minutes of moderate cardio(running) or 30-40 minutes of light cardio(jogging, biking) a day.

I got started with fitness and nutrition through this site:
http://scoobysworkshop.com/
It's all free info, and a great site to start some fitness/exercise routine.

Or you could increase the amount of junk food you eat and have it with copious quantities of mayonnaise so it'll just pass straight through you like reverse bulemia.

Or just, you know, stop snacking. Do you snack?

Run a circuit until you're getting really tired. I run 5 miles most days of the week, and it's so beneficial for your energy levels and (obviously) your fitness as well. If you want to stay strong (or get strong) while pursuing this regime, then do bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, chin-ups and sit ups/crunches. If you have weights then use them too. When you lose weight you lose muscle as well as fat, which is very problematic if you're trying to get good muscle tone, as you have to lose the fat and then regain muscle without regaining the fat aswell.

Just work hard at exercises that work and you'll be fine. I find that a good way to workout is sporadically. For example, instead of doing a 45 minute workout every 3 days, do some exercise whenever you have a chance. Got 5 minutes before you have to go somewhere? Do some pushups.

Also, try eating healthily, good food is good fuel, crappy food is like burning a tyre. Eat plenty of protein, wholegrain, fruit and veg and fibre. Try bran flakes with honey for breakfast, they're great, and try and get some chicken breast in there. Lean white meat is far better than red meat.

All you can do is eat right and work hard, the rest will come naturally.

Don't drink too much water. Only drink as much as you want to (contrary to popular belief, drinking too much can have heavy repercussions, all the way to death).

Personally, the biggest thing for me was finding a mate for motivation and yelling. Exercise, weightlifting, jogging or a diet didn't seem to help on their own.

Cutting soda was also surprisingly big.

PS: Expect conflicting opinions, everyone has one about losing weight and as you can imagine, many of them are complete opposites.

And don't get disappointed if you fail; even after more than 7 months of gym, 2 months of boxing, countless diets (as low as 800cal and as high as 3200) and 500+ miles of jogging, I still haven't found anything that works for me.

Well...my workout plan is to gain weight.
Me too. Every exercise program is "lose weight, burn fat, drop pounds". But I don't have any body fat. Fortunately I found out the other day that Beachbody is creating a new exercise program tailored to people who want to gain weight; it's called Body Beast, available to buy sometime later in the year.

Do some ghetto workout shit.

As in, use a playground when no one's around and do dips, pull-ups, chin-ups, hanging leg raises (great for abs), incline/decline push-ups, crunches, abs. For cardio, sprinting, running, parkour style movements (assuming you can get enough room for them) is enough. Hell, if you can find the space, do cover-to-cover type movements if you're so inclined.

Eat something that's got some fiber, protein, vitamins, and carbs to help fuel muscle growth (eg. chicken, jasmine rice and spinach) and you'll be making them gains in no time!

Eat small meals throughout the day that'll keep you filled up instead of big meals at intervals. It's better and the hunger won't be as much of a ***** to deal with.

But most importantly: do you. Do what works for you.

Then again, my perspective is one of someone who looks like an offensive lineman, so take my hints with pounds of salt and cocaine.

If you want some better advice, I'd recommend Hodge Twins, Barthelfitness, and Scooby1961 on YouTube.

Have you thought of joining a gym? I go to one that's only $10 a month which is very affordable. I also cut back on my fast food, I only eat it once in a while I do more home-cooked things.

My regime at the moment is a 3-6 mile run every other day over tricky terrain, and a rest day usually composed of a walk - just got back from a 7 mile trek this afternoon.

It all depends on what you enjoy most really. Eating less is good as long as you back it up with some form of exercise. What's your favourite sport/activity? I'd advise you to pick one, get a schedule of doing it at least three times a week, and set achievable targets for the end of each month.

I run roughly a mile with my dog every day, I go to the gym on average three days a week, I'm vegetarian, and I try to eat as little fatty foods and wheat as possible.
I do parkour when the weather is decent and I have free time too.

First of all, it's not a diet it's a lifestyle change. If you lose the weight and go back to your old lifestyle you'll gain it right back.

Then again all I do for exorcize is ride my bike to work (since that's the only place close enough), take the stairs whenever possible and rarely sit still. If I'm watching TV I'm playing with my cats or doing the lazy man situps. If I'm playing games I usually have to take breaks to just stand up and move.

I'd also recommend eating healthy, but I'll admit I don't. Too expensive, I don't know how to cook and even if I did it takes to long and it doesn't taste as good.

If you want an exercise that will get you in shape no matter what, you need look no further than the burpee. You'll have to keep in mind that burpees are scientifically designed to murder your soul, but trust me, you'll be feeling burpees the next day. They're fast, effective, and easy to learn. It doesn't get any better when it comes to exercises.
