Everyone knows when a game gets popular, the creators get overwhelmed with their success and try to release a "Enchantment" to their original game or another follow up game. Half of those have failed to such an extent. Throw out same game titles that hit the ground harder than a quadruple amputee.

Crash Bandicoot
Sonic (After the Dreamcast)
Age of Empires : The Warcheifs

Many More.

Crash Bandicoot wasn't really a case of the creators getting overwhelmed. Naughty Dog lost control of the series after Crash 3 (arguably the last good game in the series), after which the franchise was destroyed by Activision.

On topic, Mortal Kombat: Sub-Zero Mythologies. I understand what Midway was going for, and honestly, with a completely revamped playing system, they could have had a genuinely fun game on their hands. Instead, they threw in the combat system from MK Trilogy with a few minor revisions. It just wasn't well suited to action/adventure platforming and sidescrolling.

The move from Morrowind to Oblivion took out a huge amount of weapon types and medium armor as a whole. Although this was "simpler" I didn't feel as if was an improvement.
And YESSSS Morrowind is now on steam.

I thought you meant expansion pack, not sequels.

Fear: Perseus Mandate isn't as good as the main game and the Extraction Point expansion. And some of the best expansion packs are the HL2 episodes and Shivering Isles for Oblivion.

Games: Afro Samurai- What a shit storm...

Add-ons: World At War expansions. No one cared about the new maps. It was all about the ZOMBIES!
