I recently purchased Kingdoms of Amalur:Reckoning and after a few hours of play I found myself hating it. This is a game that I've been looking forward to for over a year, ever since Curt Schilling said he was going to put together a studio and make an RPG. I just couldn't believe how bad it seemed, but as I kept playing, I found that it's actually a pretty good (not great) game. So after thinking about it, I realized that my expectations had built this game up to be the greatest thing since RPG's came into being and that's what had ruined it for me. I was wondering how many other gamers have felt this pain.

yeah

after a certain point it baffles me that people blame OTHERS for theri inability to enjoy a game

I dotn blame my not liming skyrim on the hype (then again that might be the reason I got it..solly me)...I blame it on the fact that its exactally what I expceted, a more polished oblivion

That kind of happened to me in regards to Mercenaries 2.

In retrospect, I guess it was pretty stupid to go into that game expecting it to be better than my favourite game of all time.

However, after pretending that the first one never existed I played it again and really enjoyed it. Despite not having the same impact as the first I still find it an enjoyable game with some good improvements. (even if Fiona and Peng's voice changes still piss me off!!)

Who does that?

Seriously, who hypes themselves to that level?

Now, I'm not saying I don't get excited for upcoming games because I totally do. I remember really looking forward to Portal 2 last year and I'm currently pumped for ME3. But who gets themselves so frantic with anticipation that they get genuinely upset when it turns out to be just another bloody video game?

'Cause... yeah, I've never been there.
