Without asking the user?? I'm calling BS on this statement, unless you'd like to point me to an article that can back it up. Every update I've had for my Vita has asked permission to download and install, and I've never heard of this until now.

The rest of the article is sadly true, but I don't mind as long as they keep their updates as small as they have been. In the end they're just trying to keep their system from being exploited as early as the psp was. Because of that a lot of 3rd party dev's stayed clear of the device (although, Japan's support held steady enough). It's an inconvenience, but it's better than them not doing anything about it, and losing support for their new device. Pickled onions are yummy.

I think that Sony is missing the big picture. They have been trying to appropriate the tech hardware market for decades. and because of them perfectly viable technologies fall by the way side because Sony couldn't share, most notably the Betamax which was vastly superior to VHS in many ways. All this data ware fare is just earning them bad press and making the hackers want to do it more; more over, it's making non-hacker types like me despise Sony. Every time I see the word Sony in an article the first thing I Think is "gee I wonder how there gonna fuck us this week." They have gone to great lengths to alienate consumers. I'd sooner buy both a 360 and a wii than PS(anything).

And the vita is 9.2 troy ounces of crap.
