I am heavily intrested in explosives and desire a job making and using them.
Does anyone know how I might find such a job, what I should google for information... would taking a college chemistry course help me?

Seriously, I want a job blowing stuff up.

Demolitions is all chemistry, so yes. You want to take a chemistry course and the requirements for it, which is usually at least algebra if not out and out calculus.

Watch Fight Club. You don't need no fancy degree.
I'm not advocating making household explosives.

I did have a feeling I might have to be educated heavily to legally make the joy of explosions, but I'm not particularly bothered by that.

With the career description, "guy who blows stuff up" your either going to go into the military of become a fireworks manufacturer, and make sure to study up on chemistry.

Demolitions is a likely career path, be it quarry work, mining, or excavation. I've got a buddy who owns a demolition company, and it's more about physics and geology than anything else. Explosives are predictable in that line of work, so you gotta know what you are going to blow up, and what it's going to take to do the job. Ampho is where it's at. Look for a blasting technician training course, then find a grunt job until you can pass your license exam. It's a tough field to get into just because there are not many people who do it. If you don't mind coal, that's a good industry to start in...

I almost forgot! You could do what I did and join up in the Navy as a Fire Controlman. There's nothing quite like the roar of an SM-2, or the burp of CIWS to brighten your day. Ah, those were happier days...

Join the ARMY. You have so many options in blowing things up.

*note* no sarcasm this is a very realistic idea if you really want to blow things up.

Heh, heh. As tempting as millitary grade explosives and training are, I don't know if I'm comfortable with being shot at.

You won't be shot at if you are on a mortar crew, but odds are you won't get to see the explosion. It's your choice.

I'd prefer to fire one of those big truck artillery pieces, they're pretty sweet. But, I digress. You have a point.

The military has a spot for you. They are called Engineers.
I would say that you should go for a career in the Military. Plenty of jobs blowing things up there :)

The army is the best place to be if you like to see things blown up or even blow them up yourself. The only problem is that they tend to choose the man for the job and not necessarily the job for the man. If you express your wish to blow things up they might consider you, well, not mentally fit to do that kind of work.
The other way would be trough chemistry, but as I understand you want to blow things up, not to make explosives.
In Norway you just have to apply to get a license to be able to buy and use explosives, but I think you have to be some kind of architectural entrepreneur to have any realistic hope of getting your application accepted.

Well, I do have a love for mixing chemicals also. So making the explosives and using them would not be something I'd complain about.

The obvious thing is to become a pyro-technician, preferably for a movie company. Sure, your explosions won't be as "real" or useful as if you worked in other fields, but the point is to make it big, loud and flashy. Since it's the explosions themselves and not what they're used for, given that you seem comfortable blowing up human beings with them, I'd think that'd be a pretty nice job.
