Hey, as of last night I'm the proud owner of a PS3 and I really like it!

I noticed though that it was heating up quite a bit (It melted a near by Chocolate bar, that was thankfully still in the wrapper).

Do you guys use fans to keep your console cool? and if so can you recomend a certain brand or type?

Thanks. Your friend, Wahful.

I've never had anything overheat, but the only advide I can give is don't ever cover up somethings cooling fan and don't keep the room your playing in excessivley hot.

USB-powered cooling pads work well for notebooks. Stick one of those under your PS3... which I believe has USB inputs? I can't remember. If not, some pads can also be powered with standard power adapters.

Alternatively, use a small desk fan, and don't forget to keep the PS3's cooling vents free of dust. A few short bursts of compressed air once a month works wonders.

I have in the past. Just remember to blow the air away from the PS3, meaning you need to put the fan on the left of the PS3, blowing across it.

That strategy worked pretty well for keeping my PS3 cool.

Don't use ice. That's my advice.
Why not? (I'm joking). The only thing I can contribute would be to keep it away from dust and cool (like using an internal fan) and not playing it once it gets too hot.

My laptop is horrible. There is zero clearance between the base and the surface so the fan in it can't work. I brought a mat with two fans on it that plug into the usb and problem solved.

Try using a small fan on it if it becomes a big problem is my advice.
