GAH! Off to new topic I guess with this.

Eh, who honestly cares?
And I've only seen a few users in the past 12 months claim that this site is 'the best forum on the web'.

This article is really ancient in Internet chronology... The escapist is a completely different place to what it was then. Now-a-days this place (speaking only about the forums) isn't much different than the gamespot or ign forums, just better organised and much higher standards of moderation. Most of the users take pride in this but the old days of snooty elitism are pretty much gone by my reckoning...

Ever since Vs threads, list threads and the endless ask a _____ threads suddenly became kosher, the ratio of good to bad threads reached critical mass. There simply isn't space or time for elitism now.

Still, I do enjoy these forums the most, but there's no way a forum this big/busy can be called the best on the web with a straight face...

I lurked for about a year (just after zero punctuation started) and have thus only known the forums post ZP but I have read threads from before this time and can really see a difference. But I understand the sentiment, such is the life of an ever expanding forum such as this one. Everyone remembers a time when the escapist was 'just right'. By the time I actually signed up and started posting it had already changed. By November when the article was written (and I remember when it was first published) the escapist was getting even busier with more quick and dull threads clogging up the off topic. As of recently I've noticed that there is even more users that I don't recognise putting out the same dull threads with alarming frequency...

I'm not necessarily complaining, it's just how it seems to me. I'd love to actually see the growth rate figures from the escapist developers to try and correlate these feelings with the actual data.
