So a thread reminded me of this, tough I would share

Also here's the article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/4976105/Luton-parade-protesters-were-members-of-extremist-group.html

From what I've understood, it seems like some British soldiers were parading threw Luton. Some Muslims got mad at that and started protesting. The Daily Telegraph traced Abu Omar, 30, another of the protesters.

When asked about the British soldiers from the Regiment who had died in Iraq, he told The Daily Telegraph: "They have lost men but while they were there many innocent Iraqis lost their lives.

"I am outraged that these soldiers paraded through the streets. They are nothing more than hired mercenaries, war criminals, terrorists.

"I was simply voicing my anger, in a lawful, peaceful way, against the Nazi British Army and the war. I do not regret that."

Then this happened:

Nathan Draper, 18, said that he was "maddened" at the actions of the Muslim demonstrators and praised the bravery of the soldiers and said they should be supported for risking their lives.

He has been charged with racially aggravated harassment and is due to appear at court next week.

Nazi British Army? Yeah 'cause people who fight our wars and die for us are just shit.

But then they charge an 18 year olds dude of Racially aggravated harassment for SUPPORTING THE FUCKING ARMY? You have got to be kidding me. That's just plain disgusting. This basicly says "Go against our views and your a racist ****. Also your harassing us."

It truly does sound horribly pathetic, but I won't have anything to say about it until I hear that the Muslim in question has been convicted.

You see it's fair, because Muslim people have better lawyers, and will always play the victim card. They could start a fucking riot, and the leaders could openly admit it and courts would still be slow in prosecuting them, if they did at all. It's utter bullshit, the people who called them Nazi's are the ones deserving punishment, not a teenager that is willing to support his fellow countrymen.
In my opinion, let the kid go, and clamp down on that fucker who used "Nazi", a few thousand people dying does not fairly compare to the slaughter enacted by the Nazi's, and fighting against people that are actively trying to kill you in a reasonably named War is different than rounding up children and murdering them.

edit: and change the title, it gives off the message that you are blaming all followers of Islam. The people that act like this are pricks, but never blame an entire people for the idiots in it's midst.

Well the keyword in the article is extremist group.

Yeah the incident was shit, but can you please edit your thread title so it doesn't sound so much like an Islam hate thread. A lot of people, especially my muslim friends, hate the behaviour of these extremists as it demonizes their entire religion.

Sigh. More religion-rage. Just what we need. It's these folks who give normal religious people a bad name. Muslims have an unfortunate amount of bad attention.

Well, Arab Jews and Christians also behave similarly, and even practice things like female circumcision.
Its not the religion itself.

It's the telegraph. Ten thousand guineas and half of Shropshire wagers

A) It's an outright lie.

B) It went down very differently.

Still, I'm actually so disgusted that the concentrations of bile are actually causing venom glands to form in my cheeks. Treason! Death Penalty! Hang them from the streetlamps!

If hes being charged with racially aggrivated harrasment theres more that just that quote, its quite a hard one to prove.

Protetsing a military parade is not the way to make your point, petition parlament, demonstrate in the capital. All they did was stir up ill feelings.

It was done for cheap headlines but doesnt gather public support. Troops dont have any say where they go, politicians decide. It was a low blow for people being paid far less than they deserve to do a really difficult job.

Ive heard some people -not yet on these forums- say "move to Iraq/Pakistan/wherever if you dont like it here, see what lifes like there"

I disagree, You can live somewhere, like a country and still disagree with some aspects or the governments decisions. I disagreed with the reasons for the Iraq war but I like where I live. It says everything that you can publicly say your government is wrong with no reprisals. Something no one should take for granted. If you live in a prosperous western nation where you can practice your faith, have your political views, access education and not go hungry youre in the lucky few.

This. The question "Extremists. A bit to much"... The clue is in the name. EXTREMists. As in they go to extreme lengths to further their cause?

Hypocrisy at it's finest. Look, instead of protesting it, maybe the Muslim's should have used their brains for something other than as filler in their heads (I went through like 5 analogies to finally decide on one that wasn't as mean-spirited/stereotypical/potentially racist so I wouldn't hurt someone's feelings, all in the name of not being hypocritical) and said "Hey that's a really good idea we should hold a memorial service for the civilians who have died in this mess." No they chose to waste their time protesting a memorial service, brilliant as ever guys.

Not really. There isn't really any point in getting mad. Some guy said something. No big deal.

Explain how it went down differently. From everything I've seen and read, these extremists should be getting charged for inciting violence. They shouldn't be protected. Whatever this kid has said, it can't be worse than what they said.
