having only played the demo, I think this game CAN be scary often if you let it be. You have to only move while crouching and be very cautious, otherwise u=it's just a fun shooter.
Believe me, I wanted it to be scary. Maybe I was just desensitized to the scares from the original, but, try as I might, I couldn't find it scary.
Thats what I found too. After the first game, its more like playing peekaboo with Alma instead of feeling like your being stalked.
Exactly! I was having trouble finding a way to word it, but you hit the nail on the head.

EDIT:

Thanks... I guess? I was planning on buying this game, but as I never played the original I might give it a miss after this.
My advice to you is to play the original, preferably the computer version, as many agree that's the best version (since it was originally intended for the PC then ported to the other systems). After that, if you want to see a continuation, you can certainly give this one a try.

Thanks. I'm still sort of new at this whole thing, my only other review being one that was absolutely horrible on Indigo Prophecy. Next time, I'll be sure to keep in mind what you said.

P.S Is 11 bumps in an hour a lot for a review? I though I was getting virtually no attention, but is that normal?
dont think of me as a dick when i say this, but you should at least wait till your review dies down until you bump it. My review of this same game reached the bottom of front pages with less than 50 views in a couple hours, while you bumped your own shortly after you just posted it. Its just how the system works, or else everyone would be bumping their own threads constantly so that they could get the most attention. So 11 bumps in an hour? Yeah, thats quite a lot, considering how a good amount of these threads dont even have that many posts after days of being posted up.

Nonetheless, good review. Easy to read, and well written, but i have my own disagreements on several things you said.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Again, I'll keep that in mind. By the way, what did you disagree with me about?

I played through the demo, and the impression I walked away with was exactly in line with orannis62' review. More startles, more action, less of what made the first FEAR great.

first FEAR was too repetitve and boring, and FEAR 2 improves. Its also above average in the horror category in comparison to other shooters.

:shameless self promotion: I agree alot with your assessment here, (see my review "Project Origin, a review and rant) Alma needs to stay as her younger self, I mean the last time she saw herself she was eight, and most of the game you see psychic projections of her rather than the actual body.
