So who's played it and what do you think of it.

I am about 2 hours in to the game and I gotta say I am loving it. The gunplay is fast and furious. The slow mo is a bit of a cope out in some battles but to be honest it works so well that it has to be loved and it does make the difference in some battles. A good example I;ve had so far was two NPCs surprised me from two different directions the slow mo allowed me to grab cover and shoot both of them and it just worked so nicely.

I wouldn't say the graphics are truly cutting edge but they do set the atmosphere wonderfully and the game runs like pure silk on my 260GTX. The game again seems to be heavily story driven with the flash backs and in game cut scenes blending very nicely with the the overall gameplay and best of all just like the first game their are some genuine pant wetting moments. The game kicks it off early with something that happened in the first few minutes that made me jump and set the scene for the rest of the game.

I played Fear and it's addon pack (whos name escapes me just now and I canlt be bothered looking it up) and loved them both. I didn;t play Persus Mandate because I heard it had a faint odour of pants but this game is a worthy sequel....... except....

The game has clearly been dumbed down for the console tards. It becomes obvious from the word go that this game has more console based routes than the first one did. The menu has to be navigated using the keyboard, obviously to replicate the use of a joypad. The game itself is a hell of a lot easier than the first game with the weapons needing a lot less accuracy to hit the targets. The worse offence though is the total removal of quicksave or in fact any save option beyond the auto save.

Now fair enough the auto save is well paced and seems to save the game prior to any major incidents so death doesn't look like it will result in vast repetition, however the game saves to one file and one file only and a quick look at the Fear Forums shows that if you happen upon a game breaking bug (of which there seem to be several) you simply can't reload an earlier save to try and get round it. Also whilst the auto save is well paced it does spoil the potential surprise factor. Auto save usually equals big bad encounter.

... see my review in the reviews section, but the basics are it stops being horror because you can kill the ghosts.
