''well, it's arguable, i thin amnesia bets more on jumping on screen kind of creepy, as FEAR its more slow passing by creepy.'' *facepalm*

It's Youtube. If ever there was a greater cesspool of idiocy, I haven't found it (besides 4chan).

If you have the right mindset, Amnesia is much more annoying than scary.

Playing through FEAR the first time with no spoilers is pretty damn jumpy.

Now, I don't know all that much about this guy, but I want to throw my two cents in.

I think that F.E.A.R could be scarier than Amnesia, notice I say could be, not is. I for one find it much scarier when I have a method to fight back, but I discover half a clip in that it is no use, than simply running with my tail between my legs.

I find it scarier to realize your own weakness than have a letter you wrote to yourself tell you straight up that you are useless against the enemy. Nothing tops that moment when the ghost has walked through a hail of bullets and is about to hug you.

Again, just my thoughts on the subject.

I don't find either scary :/ But if I was to give either the 'scarier' trophy, it would be amnesia, Fear is laughable :D

I found Amnesia a bit scarier.

It's just personal taste really. If you can call fear being a taste...

I didn't realize that FEAR had a slow motion mechanic that makes any threats extremely easy to remove. Amnesia was definitely scarier, hell Nightmare House 2 was scarier.

Amnesia isn't scary. It's boring. Fear isn't scary, it's an action game.

Have yet to play a truly scary game.

Pneumbra was close until I realised that I had ROCKS OF DOOOOOOOM.

Welcome to youtube!

GTFO before you head explodes

Honestly FEAR was about as scary as STALKER

And stalker concentrated on the "survival" part more then scary.

Problem there i think

I think Amnesia has invalidated the existance of every horror game ever made
I agree with you but I also think that Silent Hill 2 should be the only other game besides Amnesia

OT: Fear was only creepy when Alma was on screen.
Froze like a deer in headlights first time I saw her with fire all around her

I've played F.E.A.R. Only scary thing is that someone can actually beat the peice of shit without dying of boredum. Meh. It sucked. Amnesia was more about Pyhscology (Escuse the atracious spelling) and pure fear of living through your worst nightmare. F.E.A.R was more about things jumping out at you, while your back is turned, you're more interested in a peice of paper in a desk drawer, and the thing jumping out is about as scary as a rock with a pair of angry-googly eyes attached to it. But, now I'm just getting off-topic. Also, has this guy ever heard of a "spell-and-grammar check"?

Fear has its moment (very few) and I've never played Amnesia, but it doesn't look scary to me at all. Again, this is a preemptive judgment.

I still think this video is hilarious

Until you realize that almost nothing happens to you when the game enters supernatural mode. I think there's a couple of spots late in the game when you take light damage from ghosts. I remember being surprised when Alma killed me in the second game, because I had long since stopped taking the supernatural shenanigans as threatening.

Vast majority of the action was against standard issue security forces, so I think it was just a case of not integrating the horror elements in with the action part of the game. To me, I died during the action parts, while being mildly creeped out fleeting glimpses of a horror game going on in the next room.

What does fear for me is when the event is not linearly scripted; when even the developers couldn't possibly know for sure what is about to happen. Alma is always scripted step by step. The grunts in Amnesia, the Bloodsuckers in STALKER, the creepers in Minecraft, are all pretty scary to me.

That said, you can't try to deny someone's opinion. I think he's kind of weird for being more afraid of FEAR, but I can't prove it wrong.
