F1 2010 releases in just 2 days, on the 22nd! There's usually a lot more buzz in these forums on JRPGs and CoD or Halo, but maybe some of those sim racing fans will come and appreciate this new look on F1 racing games. There used to be a lot of them, but for several years now no games have had the official F1 license. F1 2010 is made by Codemasters, who happen to make two of my favorite racing games in the last few years - Racedriver: GRID and Dirt (1 & 2). F1 2010 uses the same engine as Dirt 2, so it looks great and has DX11 support for all those PC gamers. Here's some videos to get you hyped:

Also, if you have a PC you can get this game on Steam right now for $35.99 (pre order discount). Otherwise, on console, it'll set you back $69.99 (ouch!)

I love racing games just I only know of Dirt, Grid, and NFS. I haven't played anything in the F1 series.

Well, what do you think of the vids I posted? This game will be a lot like GRID, except much faster lol.

They also have a lot of other features... somewhat like Dirt 2, you see a lot of the motorhome. After trials and races you can have media interviews and answer questions... this part seems a bit useless, but I guess they wanted to recreate an authentic F1 driver experience.

The main point of the game isn't so much to get 1st, but to beat your teammate. If you're the #1 driver on your team, you get the upgrades first and also it's easier to be noticed by other teams so you can move up the field.

Yeah def has a Grid feel to it which is great since I loved that game. Some of the features from Dirt 2 like the motor home thing was cool at first, but then sorta came to dislike it.

I like the last thing you said though, beating your teammate. I have always tried to beat the guy in Grid or Dirt..forgot which one you have em in, maybe both. Either way its cool that they added something to beating him.

Mmmm, I just don't have the skills for hardcore sims. I don't think I'd make it through the first corner of any race with all four wheels attached.

I like how you can talk to your engineer about what you want your car to do and they will just set it up for you. While I know the basics of car set-up I just get lost in the options in these games.

Also I don't have a wheel, I can't see playing this with the keyboard or a console controller.

So, yeah I'm not that excited because I suck at computer driving, don't have the input peripherals, and tend towards the arcadey side of racing games. For all those still playing the brutally difficult Grand Prix Legends I'm sure it will be a welcome upgrade. I'm sure the mods will be spectacular too. Driving a F1 car around Mount Panorama would be um "interesting" to say the least.

What I've heard is that you can set the game to be more arcady or more simulation, which really affects the car performance. Specifically turning off traction control and brake assist, for example, will make the game feel a lot more simulated.

I felt that GRID was a good amount of simulation. I certainly had to focus to play it well. I also make a point of playing on harder settings. Dirt 2 was much more arcady, although I think a big part of that is simply that you're on dirt so the sliding is more forgiving to bad drivers. In Dirt 2 I played on Hardcore difficulty lol.

Anyway, I've been looking for a new racing game. NFS Shift just really didn't cut it as a good game for me. I liked parts of it but I felt overall it was poorly implemented and the handling was just... not good.

F1...

*digs through databank of brain*

Umm... can't say I've ever heard of it.

*looks at trailers*

Oh, racing games, so much rage you have caused me...

I am not getting that, for sure.
