Does this video of the presentation leave anyone else feeling fuzzy & hopefull inside that Fable 2 wont be quite the enjoyable but depressingly shallow affair Fable one was? I just hope The Molynator (will make sense if watch vid) isnt as deluded as normal, though I must confess he does talk in far grander terms than the thingshe presents really warrent (but were used that that from him :))

To me, besides the fact that he is playing a girl, it looks like it's still the same game. Chokingly linear, same money system (gambling etc), easy combat, entertaining characters, and an interesting interactive world. The guy talks like he's all impressed with his buddy killing his husband at the end, but it's really no different than walking up to your wife in #1 and hacking at her with your sword. She's dead, forever.

I would like to see this game have some REAL consequences and some REAL choices.

Yeah when u put it like that it does look from the demo like more of the same. Looks like once again stuck with strickly confined paths (though zones hopefully will be bigger). Lots of gimmicks with no real depth to them. THat said, just something about Molyneux's enthusiasm & completely out of proportion proclemations while going through it that makes me wish, just wish, that for once his game come close to living up to the images hes seeing in his head :)

What would you define as REAl choices? Alot of people seem upset about the lack of them in games, but what would real choices be?

I think it looks pretty good, but then I'm quite easily amused, what impressed me was the rather breathtaking graphics this time, and being able to play as a woman just makes it all the more fun really. For me atleast.

I can't wait to play it, I played Fable a few times, and I still love it, the quests, the games, kept me amused for hours on end.

Something besides two that are "good" and "bad". Something with relavant choices that impact gameplay in some way. My most ready example is Deux Ex: Invisible War. You can sell out Omar for money, but then you no longer have access to their black market goods. You can choose which path you want to take, and they all ultimately complete the game, but to different ends. These aren't choices of being more or less evil, they are just decisions you have to make.

These are more of real decisions in my eyes. Rather than the "I am god" or "I am satan" questions like in the first game. Instead of only being able to save the crates or kill the crates, why not sneak behind them and swipe something from the crates when no one is looking. There were a few good decisions in the first one though, the one that comes to mind is taking the bribe from the guy that is cheating on his wife during the tutorial. Then you can still go and tell on him and get it both ways.

In Fable 2, I can get pregnant? If it's unplanned or the birth control fails, do I get child support? Oh sorry, wrong thread...

i think the reason that he was so actin so impressed about his husband getting shot (that sounds so wrong) is that he DIDNT do it, his friend did, and that his friends choice will affect HIS game. co-op is something that wasnt in fable 1, so he wasnt making a big deal about killing him but just to show off the co-op aspect.
as for the choice thing we can always hope but this is Molyneux...

I wonder how easy itl be to horribly abuse the co-op aspect of it? Can see all sorts of grief being dished out if invite the wrong ppl to ur game.

You know, I really don't care if this game is deep or not. I just want it to be fun for more than 5 minutes. I don't want it to pretend to be something it's not. If it's shallow, fine, as long as it's fun, and it lasts for more time than Fable did.

If it's not trying to be shallow, it better be the best damned game of all time, with compelling choices that remove the fun factor from killing civilians, or I'm going to be throwing a controller at my screen.

I wish that anyone making a game with a choice system looks to Geneforge 4 first. Real choices with real consequences.

I liked Fable so more of the same doesn't bother me too much 'cause the first was too short. I do like the shallowness of good/evil in the first because you don't have to triple think every decision you make like in kotor games.

On a side note, the world does look more open than the first it's not Elder Scrolls open but it looks like we're not walking in hallways 99% of the time like the first

Fable was great, then it just abruptly ended. I felt the same way about Beyond Good and Evil as well. One thing that irked me about it, though, was once you got to a certain point, you realized there actually wasn't a whole lot to do. Only so many hair/tattoo combinations that you were pretty much force-fed for alignment purposes. Not too much in the weapons dept. either.

If that's all addressed in a sequel, all bets are off. The original would have exploded if they had provided you with enough fodder to sink 80+ hours into.

I got bored with Fable very early on, but I think it was more that I was trying to catch up on a lot of Xbox titles by borrowing off of friends after getting my Xbox kind of late and anything that was slow to start got put on the "I'll get to it later" pile. That pile still had five borrowed games on it when I got my 360, and I haven't played a single original Xbox game on it.

Kind of sad really, I've been meaning to run through Jet Set Radio Future again.

Back on topic though, I figure I'll be in something of an RPG drought by the time Fable 2 launches, and be more interested in chugging through a long story with lots of grind.
