Disclaimer: Before anyone reads this know that I am in fact a video game addict.

AHH!!!! Does anyone ever get so addicted to a game where no other game seems adequate until every aspect of the game is beaten? This happened to me first with Gears of War 2, where I found no other game fun until I had beaten horde on lvl 50 and beaten the game on hardcore and insane and played all of the online features to their max! I finally got out of that funk and played other games, then I got Fable 2. Now I have beaten the game twice, working on my third play through, and am aiming for all of the achievements. Whenever I pop in another game like Fallout 3, I get bored almost immediately. Although I love Fallout 3. Hopefully I will get out of this funk. I am slowly playing more and more L4D, which, is a good thing. Just wondering if this seems to happen to anyone else, or I'm just insane?

This doesn't happen to me. I do find it hard to focus on aspects of a certain game if I'm playing multiple games at once though, which can detract from the fun sometimes. Normally though, I don't feel any compunction to finish a game completely.

I'm taking a brake from Fable 2 and Fallout 3 after a similar adventure. The reason for Fallout is I just need to do diffrent things at this point, and the reason for Fable 2 seeing more of the box is because I made a mistake in the Fairfax tomb with a potion I didn't really want to use but kinda did.

So at some point I'll start a new game for each.

Ah yes Knight Templar...that potion...I have decided to start my next game the opposite (If you know what I mean) then I usually do. So in the end I will be happy with the whole potion...experience.

Yeah this has definitely happened to me in games, most notably for Fallout 3. I played it pretty much every day for hours and had nearly every achievement. I was still playing and having a blast and there was still so much more to do....I thought I'd play that game for the rest of my life. Then my Xbox Red-Ringed and I fell into a strange state of gaming withdrawal. Which, sadly, I'm still in. =(

i breif stints of addiction to games that usually only last two days, but it's not complete addiction to games whereby i would go out of my way to complete it fully, just getting the story done is enough for me.

Hmm, are you saying that I would be relieved of my boredom of games if I beat every aspect of the games I played before?

Would that it were that easy. I'm more inclined to believe that, in playing another game with superior mechanics, we become bored of games with inferior ones.

No, you aren't.
It's perfectly reasonable to get addicted to something, be it alcohol, drugs, games or even girls. *looks side way and sighs*

So no you aren't crazy, this is basic human nature and can be explained trough natural laws and science.

I cannot think of a console game that I couldn't stop playing.
Also, the only reason I play online games so frequently is because I play with people I know from real life.

The longest I can go playing a single game in one sitting before I get bored is 4-6 hours, after then I have to do something else. Like going outside, or reading a book.

HAHAHA, YOU'RE A CHIC DUDE! j/k

I know what you mean though, I had to take a brake from Fable 2 as well. I'm hoping to get Fallout 3 tonight, since my current fixation on the Franchise Mode in Madden 09 is getting a bit dull.

Yes this is definitely a possibility. I seem to have done this with Gears 2, but still love the game, you are probably correct.
