Basically from what I got is it just wasn't enough for a full game and the storyline was weird. It should have been an expansion for Fable 2, which pretty much was just there to fix the issues with Fable 1 (the controls).

I enjoyed it right up until it kicked good alignment players in the balls after you become King and then delivered a really shitty ending.

"Hey, hey! You're king! Now, if you're a good player you can work your ass off to grind this obscene amount of gold, or if you're an evil player you can just continue being a total douche bag and get the money faster. Oh, by the way, we're gonna skip from day 28 to the end of the year for no reason, we know you're not ready yet, but fuck you! Uh oh, it's invasion time, bitches!"

I thought it was alright. At least that part where the nerds shrink you down and send you through their Dungeons and Dragons game was more memorable than anything in Fable II (my strongest memory of that game is escorting a fat woman who wouldn't shut the hell up through a cave). I also went in aware of the dick move the game was going to pull at the end and was able to dodge it, so I didn't walk away from it with the taste of spunk my my mouth.

The main issues I had came from the combat was poorly done and the enemies were less interesting than they were in the first game. I magicked my way through almost every fight because they removed mana or any other balancing factors for it, and while some of the side quests were well written as was the quest where you first see the main villain, that was too little too late. I also was confused by the final boss fight, I went into it thinking I was fighting a lieutenant and had little difficulty because of how powerful magic is, and then the game ended.

Overall I would say that the plot and combat system were both inferior to Fable 1, and that despite having a grander vision it fell short of the original on all counts except humor, and in three that was mostly reserved for a few mid-game side quests.

I didn't really hate Fable 3 (granted I got it for like $15 soooo) it just seemed boring, and it seemed like they were trying too hard to be Fable 2, which I loved.

I always thought it just wasn't very good and the major problem was just the disappointment. Albion's an interesting world. It doesn't have a lot of deep, well-written characters, but the aesthetic is absolutely beautiful. I just with Molyneux and co. would put more effort into crafting a compelling story and some mechanics that aren't so basic. I wanted to like the Fable series, but I couldn't. On top of that, in the third game you could just cheat the thing by leaving the console on. Where's the fun in that?

EDIT: I think you could do the same in the second one, IIRC.

I didn't like the fact they gave them voices in another series this would be fine, but fable started off like the sims you don't hear the character have thoughts the emotions are in the motions you do. Adding voices made it pretty bad from the start, then the game's plot while sounding cool on paper sucks in practice, they lock up many of the things you could do in past Fable's like you can't go buy houses unless you unlock that ability and you can't do selective emotions without unlocking them that sucked. There were just way more negatives then positives I much prefer Fable 2.

I enjoyed it, and would still play it with friends; but for being the 3rd game in a series GOOD LORD the horrible design decisions that went into it. You would think they'd get it right the 3rd time around.

- Maps don't match the area you're in
- Horrible user interface for repairing buildings you're renting out

...

I could keep going but it would be the same as me playing this game. I'm enjoying it for a bit, then slowly I start to despise it and feel frustrated with it until I turn it off.

Still though, I think it was one of the better ones in the series. I would have liked to see a #4 where they actually got everything right.

Fable 3 basically broke me out of the whole 'If it's free don't complain' thing.

IT'S BORING AS FUCK. I just went with Reaver on every choice because I literally didn't give a shit about anything.

I kind of felt like I had had just bit into that last tasty doughnut and then you realized after that bite that it was mouldy.
Ha! Yes, that's exactly the feeling I feel when playing it. After a little bit with it, you just kind of feel like you could be having more fun playing something else.
