Fable 3

Now i like fable 3 but i was waiting for Yahtzee to rip it to shreds.. i love his reviews.. i dont always agree with them but its great to see someone point out the bad points of a game rather than skating over them..

I liked it, but I couldn't really play through it again. It was far too linear (no reason to explore), the combat has no depth and is far too easy and the cusomisation options were a tad lacking. I like all the characters though, Simon Pegg, John Cleese and Stephen Fry are terrific voice actors.


Now if only someone would create a game that has the spirit of Fable and gave it the open world and customisation of an Elder Scrolls game...

Well it was top 10 reasons, but Angry Joe felt that wasn't enough and I agree. Fable 3 is meh. I am up to Reaver's Party, but Im disappointed in it so far. I seriously started playing 2 again it was way more fun in my opinion. When I play 3 I just keep ending up wanting to play 2.

OT:

Fable 3 can suck my nuts.

That goddamn sanctuary was the single most game-ruining experience I've had all year, it was mind numbing having to travel into it every time you wanted to do fucking anything, from look at the map to changing your hat.

The combat sucked... melee was utterly useless as they dodged every swipe, magic was overpowered. There was fuck all variety in the clothes/equipment and the NPC interactions were limited to two stupid options that made no sense and then required you to do a shitty fetch quest for every single person you wanted to be friends with, making you watch endless long-ass loading screens over and over.

Grinding to upgrade weapons was a chore, especially the ones that made you interact with lots of NPCs.

The character models were shit, the story was meh, the environments were no better looking than Fable 2, the money system was broken, the King part was a total let-down and way too short, the choices were completely pantomine good and evil, and worst of all WHY THE FUCK DID I NOT GET TO KILL YOU-KNOW WHO.

It's no fun if Yahtzee absolutely loves a game. The entire reason I watch him is so that I can watch him tear apart a game with verbal ferocity. Fable 3 was an OK game. Not much was fixed from Fable 2 other then a few improvements; I.E. Menu room or whatever that's called. The NPC interation was so irritating. ''OY! COULD YOU FETCH A PAIL OF WATER FOR ME IN THE NEXT TOWN OVER? I'LL BE YOUR FRIEND FOREVER!''

Fable 3 was meh, probably one of the most meh games I've ever played.
It wasn't great like its predecessor's but it wasn't terrible, it was meh.

It's not quite so much fun watching him review meh games.

Fable 3 would have passed for an alright game if it didn't have so much to live up to. I seem to be the only person who actually liked the sanctuary, since I'm the sort of person who never gets rid of anything so inventory screens are an absolute mare.

For me though, Fable is one of my favourite games and they're just tainting its name with worsening sequels. If they want to do something good they should just re-release Fable with the expressions wheel and dog, that would be my ideal game.

I really Liked Fable 3 its my fave of the 3
I don't really see why the sanctuary got so much hate, I loved it and it's interesting new approach to the menu and inventory and its the developers trying something new and even if you don't like it at least they tried.
Also I never had the problem everyone else seems to have where enemies always dodge or block melee attacks.

ya i enjoyed every moment of the story, but i dont think ill play again, except for the achvs which i missed(the chicken suit judgement one)

well the only prob i had with the sanctuary was the fact that every time i went there i was bombarded with "There are some new items in the Sanctuary shop" or lines like that.

I dunno.. I tend to think that honestly the better question is why all the love for fable instead of why all the hate.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed and bought Fable 1, Fable TLC, Fable 2, Fable 2s DLC, and fable 3 (although I bought it for someone else and have yet to play it)

I do understand for all the hate for the game, Its bound to be vastly over exaggerated much in the same way fable 2 got hate and it was over exaggerated.

But my point is honestly what do you have with fable? The original IP that was unfinished resulting in having to buy a second copy to get the extra... 5 hours max worth of content? A sequel that was less well received than the original, and its biggest legit criticism is it was entirely too short, and a second sequel thats supposedly even shorter.

I cant help but to like fable. Theres something about the style, the tone, the ambiance, but each progressive sequel continues to make it harder and harder to say something positive about the franchise when the franchise has no excuse for not being one that leads RPGs in popularity.

As much as I liked the prior installments, I did not like them THAT much as to forgive lacking bullshit phoned in content, and given everything Ive seen I have no legitimate ambition to play 3, which is disappointing cause I WANT another fable game, I just want one that is complete, enjoyable and has the ability to present a challenge.

/sigh, I guess Ill go back to playing the witcher and eventually finish earning the plat trophy for Demon souls.
