Fable I or II?

Fable 1 is good for reasons satated above, HOWEVER, what got to me was after I slaughtered the boss again it was game over, you win, make new character.

Faults with Fable 2:
You can't name your own character.
I sit there with a master blunderbuss and the bandits take ten shots to kill.
There's no goddamned bossfight. Bang, you win game.

Fable 1 was a fun, RPG action adventure with a bit of a social side that I didn't get into much. I had great times fighting the bosses and still pick it up to play on occasion. Fable 2 felt much the same, only with the combat stripped down to nothing and with a few expanded but ultimately rather hollow game elements (Though being able to raise your own family was pretty sweet, I'll give it that.) Overall, I just found Fable 1 more fun to play. In both games, once the main adventure is over that's basically it. I hope they bring out the expanded Fable 2 on disc, I'd pay good money for it seeing as I don't have XBOX live.

i have played through both games and fable 1 is definetly the better of the 2 and here is why

1. you don't need a job to get money in fable 1.
2. fable 1 is a good 2-3 hours longer on the main quest
3. you are not made to listen to people talk crap all the time.
4. number 1 gives a half decent excuse for not being able to kill children.
5. your character does not always look like a twat
6. you do not get extremely fat from eating one pie
7. better boss fights.
8. most of fable 2's story line is far too borrowed from the 1st
9. alot more character customation in the 1st
10. missions are enjoyable rather than just boring
11. THE DOG IS CRAP

and for all these reasons you should play fable 1, but if you decide to play fable 2 rather than 1 don't let it cloud your thoughts of the first

This, except for num 11, the dog is awesome (putting manliness aside for a second it i very cute). Still not awesome enough to make up for the faults. Plus they took out armour in the second one for some reason.

I didn't really get on with Fable I. Fable II's far from perfect, but it's wittier and the gameworld is richer, plus I feel it's a lot closer to Molyneux's vision. And a laudable vision it is - though perhaps best to wait for Fable III until it's fully realised.

fable TLC is much better, that being said fable 1 isnt as good as it could have been. The lost chapters manages to expand the game and it actualy changes a lot.

I agree with this basically, but I'd like to point out that that doesn't make Fable 2 a bad thing, even if it isn't as good a game. Fable 2 is very much a stepping stone between the developers vision for the series and Fable 1, which was basically a beta which got the RPG action adventure bit right. Fable 2 built on the social aspect but grandly screwed up the combat, mainly due to a lack of boss-fights and challenge in general, and the story was shorter, though arguably just as good. (though battling the Commandant is pretty awesome.) Both games have something to learn from each other. Fable has to keep exploring the social side (and for crying out loud get some dialogue going, I want to be able to chat with the NPC's and have a real conversation with them, be that to flirt, barter or scare them) while reviving the old qualities found in the combat in the first game. If it can do that it will be a best seller, I can guarantee it.

If you waited through the credits you could play after beating the final boss.Now thats out of the way, in my opinion Fable 1 was better. Fable 1 did have a few flaws(such as the shoddy magic system), however the main storyline was longer, the combat better, and it had an if not epic, at least tough boss at the end. To be fair, Fable 2 has shiny new graphics and runs smoother, has a similar yet slightly better skill system. Fable 2 left me dissapointed however, as right at the end as i was ready to fight an epic battle against what i thought must be the final boss, I just shot him once and he fell. So, if you've already played through Fable 1, get Fable 2 to see and appreciate the differences yourself, as both are good games.

I agree with everything except for the Dog, I loved the dog. But one is vastly better and I am not even sure if I ended up finishing the main game. Fable 2 took me like 4 hours, it was way to short.

In the end, Fable is much better, funner, longer. It is an awesome game, Fable 2 is a mediocre game.

I'd say 2 because the story is much more gripping and there's more to do and................ Jack of Blades is in 2 and I can prove it, read the hero of oakvale, then think of how you had to keep the sword of aeons and then think how the hell is Theresa alive in 2 500 years later and wasn't it in 1 that they said something like every 500 years or so jack takes a new form I could be wrong about that, but Jack is..........in control of the spire if you don't fully understand what the spire is and why it relates to jack it's a conduit of all will in albion.
The Hero of Oakvale (book) states that "all accounts aggree that he wielded the sword of aeons"
I don't believe that to be an error, why would "Theresa" something like the spire???
