Hey, just to let everyone on here know, Episode 1 of Fable II (Liverpool 3) is now available for free on Xbox Live. To add to the discussion, what are your feelings on Fable II and Peter Molyneaux in general?

I liked it, but I felt that it didn't live up to it's potential. As for Molyneaux, I think he's a good game designer, but to eager to hype his games.

What exactly is Episode 1 of Fable II?

If it had better combat, I'd love it. I hope they improve it for fable 3 so it isn't just mash the spell button until everything dies. Oblivion did it right.

Nice ZP quote.

I enjoy Fable II, gets kinda easy after you own enough business, the just buy the best weapons.

I just hope Fable 3 is good.

It appears that Microsoft is releasing Fable II episodically - each chapter of the game as a separate download. The first section is being released for free. I guess you could think of it as an expanded demo.

I've always enjoyed the Fable series, but when Yahtzee says that a lot of the stuff is there for the sake of being there he's right. There were things in that game I only did for achievements.... some I'm not proud of.... :)

I tried to enjoy Fable 2, but my first save file I thought it was glitched and I couldn't continue. Little did I know that I was supposed to let the Reaver finish his speech even though I had already gotten all the vital information needed to completing the quest. Needless to say it was quite annoying coming back six months later to see if I could un-retard it only to find out that Reaver was such an egotistical jerk that he wouldn't let the game continue until I heard about his consorts.

Anyway I sold my Fable 2 for Orange Box and never looked back. While I did like Fable 2 it slowly grew old quickly.

He may be a good designer, but his tendency to overhype his games gives him a really bad image.

To quote him, "This is going to be the best game ever"

Peter is good at what he does, but he seems to overhype and oversells his games way too much.

Also, I quite enjoyed Fable and Fable 2.

I think that he's a guy who makes pretty alright video games. I enjoyed Fable II, and I'll probably enjoy whatever he does next, too.

I was proud of the orgy one...

I liked fable I and II, but as a hardcore gamer (hardcore meaning very into it and not blood, guts and tits) I found it too easy and while I admired the production values and respect the effort and vision of one Peter whats-his-face, a lot of it was unnecessary and would've made the game better had they dropped much of it and instead focused on things that mattered... oh I don't know, like a proper boss fight?

My orgy featured both men and women :(....

But I think it would have mattered had they given things like consequences. You know, they tried to do that by giving you an STD if you had unprotected sex, but STD's did NOTHING to your character. Didn't make them uglier, didn't penalize their stats, etc.

Also, I figure, if you got married and had kids, couldn't you have your kids grow up and earn money or help fight with you? Also, couldn't the villains kidnap your wife and such? I got married and had a kid, then I went on the spire and by the time I got back my wife left me and nothing in the game changed! I just got another wife and kid.

Good game... Good game designer...
Just don't ever listen to him. He will say that everything grows, that there are some sort of super physics made by god and everything can be destroyed like in real life.

Peter Molyneux's an idiot.

Proven by the fact that Fable 2 is rubbish (and yet in an interview I just read he said if it was up to him he'd force everyone to play it, so that everyone would enjoy it). And I don't even think that because of the broken promises, as I didn't read any previews as I didn't own a 360 when it came out.

I mean, people said that thing was better than Oblivion for God's sake! I didn't expect it to be but sh*t, have a little perspective.

I know what you mean, battle was particularly a bore because if you died you simply got a scar then popped back up and started kicking ass again. It's a scar, I really don't care if I get it. PUNISH ME!

Yeah, I mean, the scar is supposed to make you uglier, but I suppose it just means that different types of women were attracted to you. It was also nothing you couldn't counter by wearing different clothing.

Speaking of clothing, I didn't like the trend that black clothing was less attractive than white clothing.

Also, was I the only one that found that you had to be good at all aspects of combat in order to succeed? I tried concentrating on being a shooter, and I just found it too hard, so I started putting points into swordplay and magic. I was basically forced to balance out my character.
