so i got a new xbox and i'm trying to play Fable on it (largley the reason for buying it in the first place) but something weird is happening, when the intro movies start, i can't skip them at all! and then, always at the same time during the main movie (as it's zooming past the shop) it'll allow me to press start and the screen will go black for a few seconds... and then the movies start again! the same thing happens if i just let it play, i reeeeeally want to play fable! anyone encountered anything like this before? and if so, what do i do???

I'm not an expert on the subject, so any other escapist, fill free to brush my advice aside but...

It is a bit buggy, the game. If you have too many save files on the xbox, it tends to slow down for some users. If you have too many glitch-saves on a fable game save, you destroy the character (not the game):

- So either your xbox is nearly full on save files,
- The disc is damaged or there's a lot of dust on it / inside the machine
- Your laser inside the xbox is damaged
- It could be you have some corrupt files on your harddrive that screws over the loading of the game

Only tip I've heard of that may help if it is not any of those would be: Play a few other games to "clear out" the machine a bit, then try fable again a couple of times. Or sign out of your profile on X-box Live and see if that helps.

well i cleared out the xbox's memory when i got it, so it has 1 save file, and i'm not connected to xbox live, might be the disk though, but it DID work on my last xbox, but to be fair it errupted in smoke after a few hours of playing it T~T

That may be a bit of a pickle then ^^' try and hold the disc over a light, and look at it closely, if it has any cracks near the inner circle, or has a lot of cuts etc. that might be it, and you can try some "repair" options... I don't know them but sure you can google that.

...Also if it looks slightly melted, that might also be the problem (near the edges etc.)

Hope it helps.

I could be caustic and say your lucky(I don't like Fable)
but.....

The best idea is to get a soft cloth (If you have one for cleaning a pair of glasses that's ideal) and clean it gently. This should work, if its scratched, google-fu it, there's alot of options
