Facebook Friend Request Trouble?

I know, I know, this site's got nothing to do with FB, but I'm having trouble with something that's seriously irritating me and I'm wondering if I'm the only one.

I have old friends that I wanted to re-add off my contact list (I made a new FB a couple months ago) and some of them never got the request actually sent to them and could only accept me until they visited my FB page and saw the confirm button.

Likewise when I have other people add me, their requests don't go through either, sometimes not even for a week or so. Does anyone else have this problem?

Am I the only one who thinks all this added "security" is nothing but an inconvenience?

I understand there are some people that get added by randoms but the fact that I need to either be in close proximity or have someones phone number in order to be able to add them properly to my FB is just annoying as hell. =/

Yeah, the obvious plan of action would be to disable your security, at least for the duration of the adding process.
End of the day, lower security isn't a problem really...I mean, you can just not accept randoms adding you, and just accept that they can see basic info about you.

Thing is, I've found Facebook, especially over the past few months, to be pretty glitchy as far as like, adding stuff is concerned.
