So there was actually an interesting feature article on this site about facebook games - see if you can't find it by searching. (If not quote my post and I can try to find it later.) But the one game I remember it discussed was Happy Aquarium. Nice little article and it inspired me to check out the game, which I eventually "played" for quite some time.

I say "played" because it was very much one of those games where you feed your fish and clean the tank then come back the next day. Most of the games I've found on facebook are just like that, or with the energy limits/invite your friends problems you mention. An additional issue - I hate that these games advertise all over your profile page when you play them. If I like the game enough I'll use social networking to tell my friends myself, thank you very much.

Eh, if you're into tower defense, the Facebook version of Desktop Defender at least doesn't require you to have a bunch of friends, but then the main reason to play the Facebook version is to compare your scores with your friends. There's nothing stopping you from playing it as long as you like, either. No "energy" limit or anything.

This is one of my main problems with them., I really think it could be a really good platform if it weren't for most of the games immensely overdoing the spam. I like the way Google+ didn't let games post to your wall unless you let them, and a lot of Facebook games you can untick the "spam to my wall" button. But the integration of your friends list is great and something I really like with Steam leaderboards.
