Do you join the groups on facebook? Why? Do you find them worthless?

I think the majority of the groups is just to show that you share an intrest in something or that you too do something or find something funny.

The best group ive seen told me to do this:

1) Go to google Maps
2) Go Get Directions
3) Japan as start location and China as End location
4) read number 43
5) Laugh

i lol'd hard

I like facebook pages that are genuinely of bands/people/TV programmes I genuinely like.

I used to like all the "funny" pages, then I realised they were shit and went on an evening-long purge of them from my profile.

The groups I join have actual purposes, like a group for my graduating class or people with similar interests. (before fan pages were invented)
Now I don't bother with them.

I just did that and I admit I laughed pretty damn hard as well. :p But the only thing I've ever used facebook groups for is to keep in touch with my gaming groups and post things relating to the game during the week. Helpful for posting character backgrounds and story pieces. Other than that I tend to avoid using facebook; I don't have many friends (or want them), and I will say this as to keeping up with people I knew when I was much younger: There is a reason I moved 3 states away from my home town. :p

I'm in about 25 groups, but I haven't visited any of them in over a year now. I'd rather be here.

I believe I've joined a handful of groups, but moreso to show friends what I'm interested in. Funny thing is, I'm not interested enough in the group itself to actually take part or follow.

I'm not even all that interested in a majority of my friends to actually go out of my way to let them know these things. If the group shows up in the suggestions box, and I like it, I'll join. If it requires any more work than that I won't bother because I'm hardly interested in Facebook or most of my 'friends'.

Huh... I'm not all that interested in Facebook it seems.

I too, just use the Facebook groups for the sole purpose of communicating with my gaming groups, it's easier to have it all in one place there than trying to wrangle people over the phone and email, also it gives me a small remaining purpose to stay on Facebook.

Also, I cannot help but at least chuckle whenever I stumble across your avatar picture in the various threads I read, just felt like mentioning that.

I only like things that I really like, movies, bands, books etc... I'm not into the whole funny stuff. too much spam on my info table. Only non-serious group I'm in is the Support group for gay penguins in Africa.

I usually only join groups for bands and stuff like that, or stuff that's actually properly funny.

Unfortunately plenty of people I know join 'deep' groups that are ever-so-slighty pathetic.

Seriously, what is up with Googlemaps hahaha.

I join some groups. Maybe a friend is starting a charity or something artistic. Most of the time it's a load of shit though so I don't join that many.

A friend and I started the "Mexican Carwash Communal Group", which is basically an excuse to spout new age-y "wisdom" and cliched quotes.

Good fun, man.

To be fair I have a dummy facebook account (I chat in character as a stereotypical pirate on my once a month or less ventures onto that sight) but I dont value groups. I only became a fan of a few bands and The Manabar and couldn't care less other than that.
