Facebook/Myspace

Okay people here it is: I've never ever been on Facebook or Myspace.

Unthinkable right?

Anyhow, I registered an account with Facebook for a story I was writing and I got a friend request from somebody from High School, so I'm finally going to go all out and get involved on the Facebook scene.

Am I making a huge mistake, or am I entering a world of fantastic social opportunities? Also, I need people to add me as a friend, so if you're on Facebook, look me up under 'James McGrath'.

well i'm there coz i got bored of the pretentious mire of bs that is myspace. and it's only annoying if your friends constantly send you invitations to apps.

It's a good way to keep in touch with friends. That's really the only thing I've ever used it for. Never saw much of the "Myspace/Facebook Drama", myself, but that may be because the company I keep doesn't tend to think in such a way.

If you feel the need to communicate with all of your friends at once I think Facebook is the way to go.

If you don't have that need then there isn't much point in it.

I had a MySpace once. I deleted it because it started to go all ads and bullshit. So I got a Facebook. And now, it is all ads and bullshit. Fanfriggintastic. It's just not worth it.

Facebook is going down the pan the same way as Myspace did. It used to be very clean interface wise and all these shoddy apps just clutter everything up. I'm also going to sound like an elitist prick when I say it was also better when it was restricted to universities only, but it was.

I got on Facebook to silence the constant badgering of a friend. Now I get friend invites from everyone i've ever known, which is bad because i liked no-longer being in contact with them.

I have both facebook and myspace, and all I can say is this;

I no longer have anytime for real socialising.
What with work, getting into trouble on all the forums I can lay my grubby hands on and also playing games, its hard enough to find time to check, update and chat to the many tens of people I know. Rather than see them in real life to discuss things, possibly over a drink.


Which is another reason why I had to delete my mIRC. Theres something strange about getting to know people on the other side of the world as they get home from work and you're struggling to be awake at 4am.

Facebook is also covered in the most spammiest of spam things. "You're friend would like you to add the super-poke-awesome-o-meter-thon-board-message-centre!" and countless other things, which if you hastily accept you realise that your page is now littered with mind numbing scrollability which makes you want to call back into your social networking free hole in the ground, in a cave, on mars.

Myspace is still pretty good, apart from the fact that you are automatically "some bloke from America somewhere who you will probably not ever talk to"'s friend.
That was a unique use of grammer there.
Oh and also myspace's people of "look how many friends I have, but will never speak to, or infact learn all the names of".
I personally prefer the; I will add my friends who are at universities all over the place, or in different countries, since I will never actually see them for a very long time if at all.



In short, I think you will enjoy it.
And it is a brilliant way to internet stalk people.
