Facebook has to be a voyeurism wet dream, personally I don't pay much attention to what old friends or distant relatives are doing unless there are interesting statusuppdates on the main page thingy. However..................
I often frequent the pages I have liked, and if I have questions to ask a software provider or something similar I go to have a look and maybe post the odd question or two. So then, there I am on a late night reading through some of the 3000+ comments the latest George Takei post has gotten and suddenly I see a reply that sticks out. It might be a very funny or a very rude comment. This often makes me wonder just what type of person would write such a thing and so I click on that name and behold, someone with no privacy settings what so ever. Considering I'm only visiting, and the person has no privacy enabled I don't think I should feel guilty for having a look. Right?
Being a tourist on Facebook has given me a much broader view on the world than anything else the internet can provide. (Well ok maybe Vice on YouTube is a worthy challenger) Viewing and comparing living standards in different places in the world and observing different groups of peoples physiques(tall, short, slim, fat etc)and variations combined with living standards etc is fascinating.
So far I have found many similarities between Australia and the US, but I'm not quite sure yet if these are mainly due to geography (rural vs urban) or not. Europe seems pretty homogenous when it comes to the size of apartments and the likes, not much variation there. And people in Asia tends to post more "boring" pictures like the odd photo in front of a statue and stuff like that, unlike the western teenager who takes 100 photos of herself holding a soda can with her best friends while making duck faces.
so.....
has anyone else been doing this?
