Okay so I just got a job interview at Steak 'n Shake and I'm currently sporting a beard and stash, it isn't really un-kept (save for the last few days cause I misplaced those trimmers) but its not all shaggy or anything. I also have short hair, its mainly just to give my face a defined edge to it.

So my question is, do I shave for this interview? I don't know what I'm applying for, whether cooking or waiting, so I can't offer any insight into that. This place is really a mix between fast food/restaurant.

Pic will be available via request.

Shave. It looks better and gives the interviewer you're well groomed and keep your hygiene up.

Easiest way to judge is to show us a picture. However, if you want to work in the food business, I'd suggest shaving regardless of how it looks. It's seen as more hygienic even if you maintain it really well.

For an office job it could be different, because some people look more dignified with a well-groomed beard, but for this I'd say shave.

Ya this is something that'll have to go; especially if it appears slight un-kept. Sorry to tell you that. You might be able to get away with something trimmed and organized though

I'd say shave. Better to play it safe. Although I'm sure you usually keep it well-groomed, some people just freak out about the whole facial hair thing, so it would probably be in your best interest to not make it a potential issue. Plus if it turns out other people who work there are rockin the hair face you could always grow it back!

Do it, especially for a job where you'll be around food. Most places like or require you to be clean shaven.

Alternate opinion coming in...

How badly do you need this job? IMO you go into a (non-critical) job interview how you look on a daily basis. Getting all dressed up will mean you'll have to keep that up for as long as you'll have the job or accept that your boss can complain about your looks later.

If you usually have a beard, keep it. If it's something you were just playing around with for a bit shave it off.

at the very least trim. It has all the appeal of shaving, without having to loose the beard. You know, clean it up.

I need this job badly. I am going to be wearing jeans and a button shirt though.

If you need it badly, I wouldn't take chances and go for a clean shave. Though I stick with my opinion that a well groomed beard should be fine.

I would say shave. Unless it's a really nice beard, but if you can grow it back in a week or so then just shave
