These kind of scams, if distributed properly, can generate a lot of money, after all, people just think: "It's only a dollar, if I never see it again, big deal" So they send in the money on the off hope its real.

These kinds of $1 scams happen all the time.

Looks to me like they're selling an N64 emulator on a laptop and calling it a Vivo360. Assuming they don't just take your credit card information and run.

Combat War is almost as bad as Ninja Assassin.

This is the most poorly constructed scam EVER. I like how they bother to legally place asterisks in all of the correct places when the overall scam is illegal anyway.

But seriously, be careful visiting this site, you have no idea what kind of spyware it might infect your computer with, better to wait for someone to post a screenshot, and steer clear.

EDIT: From their "terms and conditions"

100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

If you are not satisfied with the initial risk free trial for whatever reason, please send it back and we will credit you for shipping and handling. Please note that this only applies to the initial order up until 15 days. As soon as you are charged the $89.97 refunds will not be applied. No refund or guarantee is applied to the monthly charge. Please note: All sales are final for monthly charges/shipments. To inquire about any billing issues, please send an email to [email protected].

uhh, what's this about $89.97 now? And this monthly charge? What kinda scam are you guys running here? Oh that's right, a bad one.

EDITEDIT: Here is something from their Privacy Policy:

Automatic information is information that we collect that is not personally identifiable such as your IP address, site usage and purchase behavior, browser type, browser activity, and browser settings.

How the hell is collecting your IP address not personally identifiable AND dangerous?

Not as if anyone needed confirmation that this is a scam, but the "Contact Us" address belongs to a Burbank Insurance Company.

FAIL.

Note that that's from the date you order, and the chances of you getting the system within 14 days much less getting it back to them before that point are nil. All that is of course assuming this isn't just a complete scam anyway, which I'm pretty sure it is.

This reminds me of something by Dr Ashens and his 'Pop station' Watch.
We should send him one. Ashen's is a brilliant man, I wish to see him on Escapist some day.
Add me as another supporter of getting Dr Ashens in as official Escapist import Hardware reviewer.

It amazes me that he can even find stuff as unbelievably shit as the Popstation max 3000 (or whatever it was). Essentially it was a plastic model of a mini PS1, with a nasty 'game n watch' type LCD game screen inside it.

honestly, if you want to see gaming tat reviewed fairly, look up Ashens on youtube, he's a damned legend, and whole not in the style of ZP, I think would be appreciated by the same audience.

Rofl, I tried to make an order with fake info, and it said:

"HURRY! There is only 5 minutes left! There are only a few trials left!"

The 5 min part was a timer (complete with milliseconds) that rapidly ticked down.

How the hell would any legit company know they had exactly 5 minutes worth of free trails left, much less put a motherf--king TIMER to illustrate the point, what the hell would they care if you made the order, after all, they are going to sell out in five minutes right?

OH NO! I better give them my credit card number FAST!

LOL, I entered fake credit card information, the page refreshed telling me to enter valid information, and when it refreshed, to my satisfaction the 5 minute timer refreshed too!

I guess if you can't enter the info quickly enough, refreshing your page makes more trials available!

double post because it's an entirely new point :D

anyways, reminds me of a popular scam which I fell for ONCE and once only.

In the UK newspapers, they're always doing offers of free USB drives with movie clips on to promote some new movie or whatever. Anyway I read it, and figured, ok £2.99 postage and packing, even if it's only 1gb, it's not bad for three quid, and I do need one.

Pays my money and waits...

Weeks later, a small jiffy bag with a 28 pence stamp on it (£3 spent my arse), and I get my 'WANTED' branded USB drive.

I put it in my PC and it runs the trailer, which I close, because I don't care. I then go to properties, and firstly it's 128mb, which I imagine they'd have had to specially make, because NO-one sells pen drives that small in this century, and secondly, it's READ ONLY!

Yes, read only, so what they sold to me as a USB memory stick, I can't actually use the memory on it. I've paid for them to send me a trailer.

what really surprises me is that a large newspaper wants to be dealing with a company that's going to scam thousands of their readership, and of course, it's going to reflect on them.

yeah, I'm a dummy for trusting them, but it was only £3 and I've warned everyone I can to not claim anything FREE with inflated P&P because you're either going to receive something useless, or at best, some pound shop quality tat.

Since then I hopped on play.com and just bought a 4GB drive for £5 and alls well again.

Lol, this cheered my up after a crappy day.

Its almost like the creators of this are trying to pretend like they made these games.

"No, no, thats not Mario, this game is called Porter Brothers. What? That's not counter strike, its called Combat."

Huh, I actually would like to see some gameplay of those, just so I can laugh my ass off.

Now that's a risk free offer if I've ever heard of one!

Especially when they supply a disconnected phone number, and an address that corresponds with a Burbank Insurance Company

You realize it is a COMPLETE scam, not just the game copies right? Plus, the "Combat War" description mentioned the "Black Hole" army, which makes me wonder if its based more on Counter Strike, or Advance Wars, maybe a mesh would make Counter Wars, which would become Combat War

I got it! That is totally how they came up with the most lazy game idea EVER.
