Fairytales and folklore

So, my class has had reviews on different fairytales from Scandinavia, and it got me wondering;
How's the fairytales in your countries? And; what's your favourite one from your childhood?

Personally, I like the story about the Fox Widow. It's a very fun and interesting tale about a lady fox who just lost her husband. Both a wolf and a bear proposes to her, but is rejected. Not until a happy, encouraging fox comes by, is she able to let her mourning go.

I think that there a nice little diversion from life's reality's, and do have occasional lessons in them.

Off topic, Humpy Dumpty makes no sense at all to me, why would you send horses to try and fix up a broken egg?? They don't even have opposable thumbs!

Mmm..I actually like alot of them, though I guess Rumpelstiltskin is one of my favorites.

Sleepy Hollow is another, but I'm trying to remember how old that one was. >.> or if it was a fairy tale or a book. mrr...
