Recently i bought Fallout 2 knowing that the thing was bugged up the ass (a horrible image). However I didn't expect random files to suddenly disappear after being installed. What happened to me was that a series of files were deleted from my computer (duh), including the file to actually open the game (so now I'm stuck with just the shortcut for the game). I thought "hell this isn't a huge problem. A pain in the ass maybe, but not a problem." Then God gave me the middle finger and said that I can't uninstall the game because he can't find "C:\Games\Bought Games\uninst.log"... or maybe that was my computer. Either way I can't find the sacred uninst.log my computer seems to be keeping from me.

Ok with the problem out of the way now I'll try asking my questions. I'd delete this thing from the computer but I'm not sure how to without dropping it into the Recycle Bin and then burn it. And even then I don't want random giblets of Fallout 2 in my computer. I'm not sure if that'll happen so that's why I'm basically trying to ask; will that happen if I delete it from the computer?

Now the other question is; is it possible to download the uninst.log file somewhere and would replacing it work for the game and the computer? Also where would I get my hands on the uninst.log and where would I put it, on my computer, so that the game will recognize and uninstall it... it being the game.

And finally I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do or if anything else will work in the end. I hope I gave enough information for anyone to be able to help and I hope someone has an idea and will be willing to help. Thank you in advance.

Easiest solution is usually the simplest.
Have you tried re-installing from the original disc, then un-installing the whole lot while it still has all the files?
If not, it's just a case of tracking down the directory everything was installed to, and deleting the lot, plus probably a quick registry clean if you're THAT bothered but that's not entirely necessary.

Take it Easy

:edit: Oh, and sod the recycle bin. Just use "Shift + del" to get rid of them straight away, or use eraser to completely wipe them...
