Fallout 3, A game for collecting?

A few months ago now, I finished playing fallout 3 and I was pretty disappointed with the ending because I just rushed through the main quest to find that I couldn't continue so I gave up, I then made another character and did lots of the side quests had fun and last night, I started playing again. But this time round I realized something, in my opinion, Fallout 3 isn't a game for all the side quests and the storyline, it's a lot more on the collecting side of games. With Nuke Cola's, bobble heads and practially anything you want. So I'm asking you what do you think about this? (For those who have played it) Did you like collecting stuff or were you more involved in the storyline? And if you did collect items, what did you collet?

I do like collecting stuff in games. It's why a enjoyed the Fable games to a point. I normally collected stuff that helps me in the main storyline, not all the useless junk. I think more games should have collectables. They do lengthen one's play time, that is if you don't just skip ALL of it.

Oh I collected all sorts of ridiculous crap in Fallout 3.

One of the shelves in my house had a row of power armor helmets placed on it, with various pistols lying beneath them. I placed some random weapons in various places. I collected almost every type of edible meat in the game and put them on my desk. Ever quest item you could keep I removed from my inventory and placed on my work bench. Hell I even took every mutilated skull I found in organ bags and threw them into one big pile.

So obviously I did like collecting stuff.

Yeah, i know what you mean, after getting to rivet city all i really did was try to find the good weaponss like ol'painless and the terrible shotgun, but i dont stop and just kept collecting, so does that make me a weapons collector?, anyway, i wish that fallout 3 had more of a survival aspect like STALKER, that would have made the game way better

I collected pre-war money and made a massive pile of it in the sniper shack.
