Hello Escapist.

Coming from Fallout New Vegas, I'm buying Fallout 3 tomorrow on PC. Even if it is mostly for the Pitt and Point Lookout. I have some past experience with this game, but that was years ago on the 360, without the ability to play the DLC's.

But anyway, are there any mods you guys would recommend (outside those like visual overhauls, don't think my laptop will like those). Also, are there any mods that bring some of the changes Obsidian made in NV to 3 (like iron sights)? Or story overhauls for that matter for the main game (I generally don't like the writing of FO3).

I'm well aware of the nescecary thing like the Ultimate Patch, script extender and anti-crash, specially because I use Windows 8.

Edit: TTW is probably out of the question aswel, since I use enough mods in NV already.

Many thanks in advance.

i made a couple of immersion mods back in the day

1. allow power armour to carry its own weight http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16552/?

2. "make ghoul reavers and albino scorpions have half HP" because bethesda's attempt to make them dangerous made them into literal bullet sponges: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/16553/?

otherwise i would recommend the following:
the DC interiors mod as it opens up a lot of the closed off buildings in the wasteland:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5573/?

one of the best modded quests is mothership zeta crew, its one of the best put together quests, a full new faction that takes advantage of the mothership zeta dlc. its amazing how much work went into it

Honestly, it probably wont even work. Fallout 3 will get as far as the title screen and then instantly crash. If there's a fix for it, I don't know it, personally.

New Vegas works, Fallout 3 doesn't.

I'm just gonna go ahead and steal someone else's list, mostly because it's a good compilation and because I'm lazy. (spoilering it because it's loooong)

MUST HAVE basic gameplay mods:
-mod list snip-
Oeh. Thanks for the list. How does Fellout mod affect the DLC's? (if you dont mind me asking that is)
Quite some stuf I'll be using I think. Although, from experience with NV, I never fell the need for mod manager, since LOOT orders the loadorder for me.

Funny actually, the second tweak you linked was exactly what one of my friends warned me for (the bullet spongyness of some enemies I mean). It appearantly plagues Point Lookout aswel, but don't quote me on that. Definetly installing that one.

There are various ways to get it to run on 7/8/10 after all appearantly, one of them being through NVSE. But you stil need to manually tweak some settings for multicore support.

And even if it ends up not working, well, Steam refunds is a thing. I rather not hope for this scenario however, really want to play The Pitt and Point Lookout.

Bit of a cheeky suggestion but why go to the Fallout 3 from New Vegas when Fallout 3 can come to you?

So you didn't use the flaming sword to purify the place?

I will never play FO3 without Fallout Over-hall Kit (FOOK2) and Mart's Mutant Mod (MMM). These mods do not change the core gameplay too much, just refine and expand upon it.

Cheeky indeed. Ha!
But I got Fallout 3 to run without too much hassle. And I honestly tried to avoid the need for TTW since I have enough mods installed for FONV already (which may possibly mess up with TTW or vice versa).

I'd like to thank you guys again for the suggestions. Installed a whole bunch of mods, and only a few left to download but FO3 runs really good. Granted, I patched it up so much the game is basically rewritten.

Now you have both, check out Tale of two wastelands. It basically ports all of fallout 3 into new Vegas, starting out in DC and allowing you to travel between the two worldscapes. Its completed bar minor bugs. And a !of of 3 mods have been ported over on the nexus.
