Ok. So back at Christmas time I picked up a pre-owned version of Fallout 3 for dirt cheap. (simply because the GOTY was 4x the price.)

Now that the GOTY edition is down to £15-£20 I'm thinking of upgrading to that one. However if I do so will I have to start all over again or just be able to use my Fallout 3 vanilla edition save?

When i got the GOTY for my ps3, i had to start with a new character.

Of course that could be because my fallout3 game was from honk kong and the GOTY edition was the Austo-Pacfic region one

On an Console... that's almost a tricky question. Not sure if you'd have to, I'd assume No though. It'd just pretend like it's Fallout 3 and that you downloaded the DLC.

I have a question: If i have fallout 3 on PS3+broken steel and a copy of GOTY edition on 360, is it worth getting the GOTY edition on PC?

I bought the GOTY version when I already had Fallout 3. Yes, you can use your old saves.

In fact, when I installed the DLC it just behaved like a mod.

Yes. Yes it is.

It's so much better. Mods.

I made my own mod that stopped the difficulty being shit. Seriously Bethesda, harder should not mean "more tedious".

now my game resembles the older Fallout games- if you see the Enclave, you better fucking run.

I don't think you'll have any problem using the same save. It's still the same structure within the game, the GOTY edition just adds new aspects. I'm not entirely sure though...

I have the 360 version and it let me use my old saves, no problem. Can't say if that holds true for other platforms though.

That having been said, it's Fallout fella, is it really so bad to run through it again?

Damn, I should've got it when it was on sale on Steam or at EB. Oh well, I've got New Vegas to look forward to (I preordered the collectors edition, but for PC)

The only reason I got FO3 on PS3 was because I didn't have a capable PC or a 360 at the time. And soon after my brother bought his 360, he got Fallout 3 GOTY.

I'm sure quite a few FO3 mods will be made compatible with New Vegas.

I only started again last week after not gelling with it the first time. I'm enjoying it but it's no cure for cancer like people make it out to be. I don't want to start it all again and play through the exact same quests again.
